After restful nights in their satellite-TV- and WiFi-equipped rooms, guests at Comfort Inn meander down to the hotel’s dining room to fuel up for the day ahead with a complimentary hot breakfast. Post-breakfast, they can be spotted splashing in the indoor heated pool or taking off to explore nearby attractions such as Timpanogos Cave or Alta Ski Resort. A pet-friendly establishment, Comfort Inn welcomes furry companions and sassy cartoon sidekicks to tag along for an additional fee.
A mere half mile down the road from Comfort Inn, aquanauts of all ages revel in the crystalline waters of Cowabunga Bay. The '60s-themed park keeps bathing suits hydrated thanks to its sprawling assortment of attractions, including Cowabunga Splash, a six-story water play structure replete with bridges, tunnels, and upwards of 300 interactive water features. A fleet of nine water slides helps adventurers to meet their daily adrenaline quotas, and the gentle Cowabunga River ferries inner-tube riders along its lazy waters. Chefs bustle about the onsite Cowabunga Island Grille, silencing growling tummies with pizzas and burgers, and shaded cabanas can be rented for private dining and lounging.
The surfer was getting dangerously close to the crest. It was a huge wave, spanning 34 feet, but the last thing he wanted was to bail in front of his friends. Leaning into the water and weaving side to side, he kept his balance for just a few moments longer before tumbling onto the soft mats and safe bail area of the Flowrider. He'd be ready for the real thing come summer. This is just one of the adventures that await thrill-seekers-in-training at the Salomon Center. Away from the Flowrider's manmade surf, top-rope belay systems cradle climbers as they scale iRock's craggy, gray peaks. Incorporating holds that change monthly, these indoor climbing walls shoot upwards to heights of 55 feet. Alternatively, bouldering areas stay closer to the ground and exchange ropes for padded surfaces. Meanwhile, iFLY exchanges footholds for a column of high-speed, shooting air, which elevates would-be fliers to simulate the feeling of skydiving or being kicked out of a moving UFO.
Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, North Shore Aquatic Center features a pool, waterslides, and other water-related diversions to stoke family-friendly fun all summer long. In the center of a shallow pool, a brightly colored jungle gym invites young hydrophiles to unleash their inner amphibians on its slides and spraying fountains. Elsewhere, a sinuous powder-blue standalone slide whisks giggling riders along its curves and bends before jettisoning them out into the pool, while both high and low diving boards test courage and cannonball splash trajectories. North Shore also holds classes for yoga and Zumba, in addition to lifeguard classes, and American Red Cross swimming lessons, which impart the basics of paddling and mermaid sign language.
The Peak's compassionate and talented instructors host energetic parties in addition to a plethora of programs inside a spacious facility designed to elevate children's fitness levels while distracting them with fun. The Ultimate Party Package delivers 90 minutes of a bouncing soiree, accommodating humans aged 5–18 and anyone who’s managed to travel back in time without getting lassoed by a time sheriff. A Peak party host shepherds 10 guests through 10,000 square feet of locomotion-inspiring fun that includes a gymnasium and soft play areas. The guest of honor will ricochet into a special bungee experience, and all bash attendees can claw their way up the rock wall and attain new heights with the springy help of trampolines. A foam pit welcomes tumbling tots with colorful, cushy cubes that form a less-messy diving target than society's traditional birthday frosting jump. The package grants party emporium denizens mealtime use of the lobby, where consumables replenish active bellies and party-hat cravings (food not provided).
Seven Peaks' multiple locales thrill guests with attractions ranging from water slides to go-karts and bowling. At Seven Peaks Waterpark Provo, the aquatically inclined can cascade down water slides, seesaw around the mammoth half-pipe tube ride, or ride the crests of the 400,000-gallon wave pool. Guests can scan the attractions at Seven Peaks Waterpark Salt Lake City, such as unique water slides and the Amazon River, then plummet off the Cliffhanger, a curvy slide that ends with a sudden 5-foot drop into a pool. The Lehi and Orem locations house an assortment of waterless excursions, including mini golf, go-karts, batting cages, and laser tag.
The Utah Pass of All Passes lets guests use the Fun Centers’ bowling lanes to show off elite bowling skills developed from years of rolling watermelons into doghouses. Pass holders also receive perks such as access to skating at Peaks Ice Arena, admission to events at Rocky Mountain Raceways, and admission to baseball and arena-football games.
Navy Special Operators are recognized as some of the world's most feared warriors. Run using the same aquatic training program that tests the mettle of real-life divers and explosives techs, Hellbender's Amphibious Bootcamp sends exercisers plunging in and out of the water as they blast through a blend of calisthenics and aquatic exercises. A diverse collection of former sailors, soldiers, and firefighters lead the classes, shouting encouragement as as students switch from pushups and pull-ups to freestyle, breaststroke, and sprint swims. Movable obstacles including sandbags, weights, and decommissioned bathyspheres also wait beneath the depths, challenging endurance as they bulk up screaming muscles. Classes welcome all fitness levels, but exercisers should be able to tread water, swim at least 25 yards without stopping, and arrive with their own goggles and swimsuit.
In olden days, people showed off their strength by jousting or flexing their mustaches. But at Maverik Man Games, both men and women prove their mettle with less violent feats of strength, such as launching a fellow teammate from a giant slingshot. Designed for individuals as well as teams, the competition encompasses up to 10 challenges, which range from showcasing your basketball-shooting skills to wrestling pigs into a barrel. Along with its land-bound activities, Maverik Man Games includes a variety of aqua-centric events, such as a giant rope swing and human slingshot.
