If you ask an engineer what a bridge is made of, he or she might say steel and concrete. But if you ask the owners of Broken Arrow Roller Sports, the response might be polished floors and wheels. The facility doesn't construct bridges, per se, but it is in the business of connecting things–albeit families, friends, and different generations altogether. Groups find a common interest in gliding across the roller-skating floor, which Broken Arrow surrounds with a host of other activities that includes an arcade, a snack shop, and free Wi-Fi. The rink also rents itself out for private birthdays, enabling party hosts to invite as many guests as they want and avoid having to instill the one-in, one-out rule that dominates most other birthday parties.
Your Titleist training begins with a 45-minute evaluation, which includes DVD instruction from Tracy Phillips, a professional golf instructor and—along with Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Brian Harmon—a two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year. Then, a DVD of your swing will be sent to Dr. Tyler Bachman, a licensed chiropractor and Titleist-certified instructor. In a one-hour session, Dr. Bachman will do a full evaluation of your range of motion, core muscle strength, and joint stability to help you help your health healthen the health of your golf swing. Afterward, Dr. Bachman will give you your DVD so you can continue the learning process in the comfort of your own home or little-used cistern. Contact Tracy to set up your first appointment.
Many golfers will cruise the course at Emerald Falls Golf Club in a cart, but they could almost traverse the layout in a canoe. After the first hole—a player-friendly 548-yard par 5—golfers encounter a combination of ponds, streams, and sandstone waterfalls on every subsequent hole. Though each hole reflects a keen and calculated effort in course design, the fifth hole ranks among the more memorable. The 423-yard par 4 starts in a tree-lined chute that will encourage most golfers to play a conservative drive down the left side of the fairway—but it's the second shot that, like Jack Nicklaus's mood at the time of their birth, will determine golfers' fate. The hole doglegs sharply to the right as it approaches the green, which is perched on a peninsula and surrounded by water on all three sides. To prepare for the other masterfully designed holes that comprise the 7,148-yard, par 72 course, golfers can take a hole-by-hole tour or get the scouting report from their network of earthworm informants.

Since its founding in 1980, Sun & Ski Sports has remained true to its philosophy: “do a few things, but do them better than anybody else.” The shop stocks equipment in five categories of extreme and outdoor activities, including camping, skating, running, bicycling, and water and snow sports. It specializes in these to ensure its merchandise maintains a high standard of quality, and its employees are knowledgeable participants in the sports their department represents.
Bikers can drop off their steeds for tune-ups from certified mechanics who put all brands through the rigors of a 12-point inspection, checking chains and adjusting wobbly pedals and malfunctioning spoke-card motors. While waiting, curious eyes might linger on a North Face two-person tent, a Blackburn Airtower bicycle pump, or a vast selection of shoes from brands such as New Balance and Asics. Men and women can traipse nearly barefoot in the park with Vibram FiveFingers, which offer minimal structural encumbrances for a more natural stride, or cast their feet aside for the new-wheeled prowess that comes with a Fuji SL-1 LE Ultegra performance road bike.
Safety comes first at New Heights Rock Climbing Gym. Before strapping in at the gym’s top-rope climbing course, all guests have to complete a training lesson that teaches them the skills needed to safely surmount the gym’s walls. Students learn how to tie weight-bearing knots, help friends safely ascend and descend the walls using belaying techniques, and recognize the difference between rocks and Styrofoam coolers that just look like rocks. Once instructors deem them ready, students can then latch onto the colorful rocks sprinkled throughout the climbing space, using their upper-arm strength and path-finding skills to surmount the vertical obstacle course. The angled bouldering course rises over padded mats, allowing guests to safely climb the inclines while working against gravity pulling down their own body weight. The gym opens its doors to parties of all sizes, with one designated instructor for every eight partygoers to ensure climbers stay safe and agile.
The Italian word superleggera translates to super light in English and traces back to pre-WWII cars designed by Giuseppe Seregni and Felice Bianchi Aderloni. Superleggera also denotes something that excels because of the passion and inspiration of the manufacturer or designer, the extra effort put into it. These fast, light, and strong vehicles are a source of inspiration at Superleggera Cycling & Multisport, and the store’s experts strive to channel that kind of passion and inspiration as they pair bikers with brand new two-wheeled steeds to ferry them up mountains and over roads in search of the fountain of eternal hamstring heartiness. The cycle-minded staff also tunes up and repairs bikes and outfits riders with Capoforma jerseys, energy bars, and flat sealants for patching up arrow-pierced tires while on the run from Cupid.
