An open garage can attract many things—raccoons, neighbors, determined salesmen—but for Rodney Bruce it attracted dirty cars. Having worked at several dealerships since 1976, Bruce was familiar with a variety of detail techniques and could speak fluent Chevrolet. So in 2004, he decided to open a detail shop inside his two-car garage. Two successful years later, he moved his shop to its current and roomier location where he augments his detail services with hand washes and a repertoire of car-cleaning tools, including steam cleaners, orbiters, buffers, and 100% cotton terry-cloth towels.
The cleaning crews at Mr. Clean-It have been sanitizing cars since 1946, wielding safe, biodegradable products in their hunt for filth on mobile sojourns or at their Olathe shop. During the 15- to 20-minute premium wash, technicians attentively evict dirt, smudges, and slobber from impatient bridge trolls from the car's outer shell and sniff out crumbs from seats, carpets, and ashtrays with an astute interior vacuum. An interior window wash clarifies the glass from the inside, and exterior-glass scrub downs clear away environmental residue and give the car a chance to release pent-up inner beauty.
