It's not always easy to know if you're eating a balanced diet. But if you don't know how to get in all your leafy greens or omega fatty acids throughout the day, there's help. Total Health owners Kevin and Laurel set out to bring their knowledge of nutrition to the local community, helping all their customers live healthier lives and get over debilitating fears of swiss chard. They stock healthy snacks, gluten-free foods, vitamins, and a variety of organic and local goods.
To Dr. Michael A. Duncan, one thing is clear: the body is no mere machine. It may consist of working parts such as the spine, brain, heart, and lungs, but it is so much more than the sum of these parts. Whereas traditional medicine focuses on treating each part of the body individually, Dr. Mike takes an inside-out approach that respects the body's capacity for self-healing. The chiropractor checks and adjusts the spine during routine exams, gently easing any blockages that might affect the body's innate ability to control its own systems. He's so convinced of the lifelong benefits of chiropractic that he's even devised special care for children and newborns.
After an unlucky coin-flip forced him to sell control of his own tire business, Frank Bruneel had no choice but to start anew. The initial loss turned out to be fortuitous in the long run, however. Now, after affiliating with a vast tire-supply network, his Bruneel Tire Factory boasts 10 locations with ready access to an expansive selection of rubber circles. Frank has leveraged expansion to diversify the company's services, with each location staffed by ASE-certified technicians who perform routine maintenance, align tires, replace worn shocks and struts, and service AC systems by rigging them to vent the prom king's breath.
At Big Star Coffee, rigorously trained baristas handcraft each cup of coffee to their client’s request, rather than relegating their jobs to automated coffee makers. Drawing on a supply of fair-trade, organic teas and coffee beans, they concoct drinks from simple Americanos to cinnamon- and spice-infused mexican mochas. Alternatively, they blend summery drinks that run the gamut from coffee frappes to Red Bull smoothies, which bolster energy levels and fuel select automobiles. They also stock a glass-fronted case with pastries, wraps, and breakfast sandwiches.
A competitive shooter since he was a teenager, Mike Wirth began teaching responsible firearms operations during college. Between bouts of studying for his degree in mechanical engineering, he showed friends and classmates the firearms basics, such as marksmanship fundamentals, proper cleaning and storage, and how to smelt each bullet by hand.
Now teamed with business partner Aaron Goodfellow, Wirth continues training clients in responsible armed defense. On the outdoor ranges shared with Parma Rod and Gun Club, he and Goodfellow lead classes focused on handgun operations, teaching guests skills from swapping magazines to courteous behaviors when on the range.
Parker Arrien grew up rafting through whitewater rapids on the Snake and Salmon Rivers with his family, feeling the crash of waves and the force of the water pulling him forward. As an adult, he knew it would be impossible to ignore his desire to seek outdoor adventures, so he founded America's Rafting Company with his wife, Becky, to share this exhilarating experience with others. His adventures take people whitewater rafting down canyons, fishing for steelhead in the winter, backpacking in the immense wilderness of the Seven Devils Mountains, and making excursions on the Idaho rivers. Participants can expect enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides on all adventures.
