The expert stylists at Salon DayDreams trim and style locks within a cozy haircuttery, making sure customers are comfortable enough to let their hair down and opt for a bold new style. They start beautification sessions with a complimentary consultation to discuss the desired results, then draw from their artillery of fashion techniques to administer haircuts, lengthen hair with extensions, or add in quick layers with weaves. In addition to hair services, they extend eyelashes and offer facials to cleanse the skin of customers who like to play hide-and-seek in coal mines.

In 1993, Les Arthur Bauman finally realized his dreams of opening his own salon, which he called Arturo's. He had two stylists, some shears, and not much else, but he worked hard to build the business. While he got the salon up and running, his son, Jes Bauman, became the second generation of the family to pursue hair as art, pursuing an education in New York. Eventually, Jes returned to Orlando to help his father and, ultimately, to take over the studio. He renamed the business J. Bauman Salon, but he preserved the family tradition of expanding the customer base, one expertly cut head of hair at a time.
To date, Jes has accrued more than 20 years of experience and has built up a talented stable of more than 20 stylists. His team constantly snips, colors, and extends hair at 17 stations spread throughout the now-upscale salon. The decor has matured alongside the business. It blends dark hardwood floors with high ceilings fitted with bright, recessed bulbs, which are ideal for helping stylists focus on their work rather than those mysterious shadows looming in the corner.
Along with her partner, Arturo Diaz, Paola Salamanca decided to open Studio Spa Garden of Healing in 2009, located in a renovated two-story cottage lit by ample windows. The spa—winner of MyCityBeauty magazine's Best Spa in Orlando award—represents a tripartite marriage of Paola's interests in television and film, her family's work in the beauty industry, and Arturo's career in acupuncture and natural medicine.
This harmony among diverse elements becomes apparent as soon as one walks in the spa’s front door and encounters, amid shades of pale lilac, Arturo crafting herbal remedies or redirecting energy pathways with acupuncture. Not far off, beyond a skin bar stocked with Dermalogica products, guests sip sangria or herbal tea in a dimmed relaxation room as they await appointments for facials or a variety of massages, including deep tissue, Thai massage, and "tui na," a Chinese therapeutic massage.
Having traveled abroad to locales such as Spain, Colombia, and India, the spa’s staff boasts knowledge of basic skincare techniques as well as advanced or alternative methods such as vacuum therapy and fire cupping. For her part, Paola works with actors and models and often travels on-set to share her wisdom—a fact that may explain her penchant for adding a dramatic musical score to each of her treatments back at the spa.
The owners of Envy Hair Designs have assembled a team of equally skilled stylists, barbers, and massage therapists to provide a wide range of treatments for the body and spirit. Those treatments include everything from hair design services such as cuts and coloring, to spa services like manicures and pedicures and eyelash extensions. Meanwhile, soothing massages are enhanced with hot stones, foot scrubs, and natural oils, and take place in a private room where clients can let their muscles loosen and their funny bones relax long enough to try out new material.
