In 1993, Les Arthur Bauman finally realized his dreams of opening his own salon, which he called Arturo's. He had two stylists, some shears, and not much else, but he worked hard to build the business. While he got the salon up and running, his son, Jes Bauman, became the second generation of the family to pursue hair as art, pursuing an education in New York. Eventually, Jes returned to Orlando to help his father and, ultimately, to take over the studio. He renamed the business J. Bauman Salon, but he preserved the family tradition of expanding the customer base, one expertly cut head of hair at a time.
To date, Jes has accrued more than 20 years of experience and has built up a talented stable of more than 20 stylists. His team constantly snips, colors, and extends hair at 17 stations spread throughout the now-upscale salon. The decor has matured alongside the business. It blends dark hardwood floors with high ceilings fitted with bright, recessed bulbs, which are ideal for helping stylists focus on their work rather than those mysterious shadows looming in the corner.
The Spa's focus on customer satisfaction and relaxation has gained the staff recognition from the press, including a nod in Orlando Weekly's Best of Orlando 2011 list. Its vast menu of spa services runs a soothing gamut from traditional western massage to Dermalogica skincare treatments, as well as extravagant spa packages designed for men and women.
About once a month, or whenever the original cast of Footloose shows up, The Spa cranks up the tunes and opens up its hardwood floors for dancing during happy-hour spa parties. The themed shindigs pair lavish massages or facials with a nightclub ambiance of cocktails and activities such as gambling tables or oxygen bars.
The stylists at Hair Dynamics West specialize in delivering vibrant, safe, and glossy hair color, but the team is just as adept at cutting, styling, and treating strands as it is in dressing them with an all-over glow or vibrant highlights. Since 1991, women, men, and children have taken a seat for classic and couture cuts. The stylists can customize each appointment by pulling hair products targeted by hair type and condition from the salon's large display of beauty products. Aside from color and haircuts, the staff can also smooth hair for up to twelve weeks with a surface-smoothing bath that reins in frizzy locks and curls that have given themselves motion sickness from twisting and turning.
eforea Spa presents guests with two routes to restfulness: technology or tradition. The first choice takes them on the Essentials Journey, a compendium of services that relies on advanced formulas to cleanse, exfoliate, and renew the skin. Extras such as acid peels and microcurrent treatments—electrical energy meant to lift and firm complexions—complement the menu's body wraps and exfoliating facials. The Escape Journey blends the renewing properties of organic ingredients with relaxing rituals, resulting in sessions of meditation massage and nourishing scrubs.
These journeys are signatures of the Hilton eforea spas. Though the spas pamper guests in several lavish hotels throughout the world, each eforea location treats clients to customizable options and distinct decor.
eforea Spa welcomes visitors to six private rooms, wet-steam chambers, and a cream-colored relaxation lounge. Nestled in plush, provided robes, patrons can browse a catalog of Kerstin Florian products, whose european serums incorporate natural algae, mud, and herbs. Aromatherapy imbues the space with enticing scents, though its source is hard to pinpoint—the staff layers fragrances into several services, including aroma manicures, which perfume hands more effectively than a stack of corsages.
