Owosso Speedway has been revving up enthusiasm for racing since 1939, populating its track with pro late models, pro stocks, five-wide racing sport stocks, road-shaking open-wheel modifieds, and more. Stock-car fanatics can fill lungs with the sweet scent of burnt rubber during Owosso Speedway's five race dates in May. Witness the whirring blur of pro drivers tearing up the track with a variety of powerful, growling mechanical beasts as they drift, draft, and zoom their way around or through their opponents and up the standings. Watchers can bear witness on April 30, when a gaggle of events like demolition enduro, trailer races, and push/pull train races coalesce into the mass motorized mayhem of Carnage Night, and celebrate opening day on May 7 after a grueling off-season of making engine sounds to themselves at work. The races on May 14 and 21 also feature cars racing around, and a kids' bike giveaway and autograph night closes out the month on May 28.
Menopause the Musical has painted a vivid, rib-tickling portrait of four women confronting the troubles of middle age for audiences in hundreds of cities all over the world. The show tells the story of four strangers, meeting by chance at a department-store lingerie sale, who begin to commiserate on the travails of menopause, including hot flashes, mood swings, and spontaneously breaking out in song-and-dance routines. Parodying a suite of hits from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, the musical's jaunty tunes encourage dialogue about women's health while eliciting copious chortles of recognition from guests.
