Once visitors reach the point of mosaic or brush-stroked satisfaction, veteran staffers crank up the heat in the kiln, with finished pieces ready in about a week’s time. All products are nontoxic and lead-free, making each piece fully functional for dinner or as a makeshift helmet during a couch-fort takeover.

With machines set up in rows to encourage competition, many ordinary gyms cater to men's bodies and psychology, right down to the urinals that were "accidentally" installed in the women's locker room. At Curves, you'll move around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with women's bodies to promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage your machine maneuvering and your muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing your momentum, the hydraulic machines use your body weight and fitness level to create resistance that matches your abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
The motivating instructors at CROME propel clients through their CROME (Challenging Results-Oriented Measured Exercise) program, which utilizes 31 different workouts in order to tone muscle and roast calories. Each day of the month features a different workout to keep muscles guessing and to maximize intensity while minimizing stress on ligaments and joints, and the results of each workout are recorded, allowing clients to track their fitness progress.
In the 1940s, Walt Baptiste and his son Baron created a new branch of yoga—called Baptiste yoga—that combines the principles of yoga, meditation, and inner reflection. The Baptiste-yoga movement grew rapidly, and in 2005, senior Baptiste teacher Mark White introduced his community to the practice with three studios. He and a staff of 13 certified yoga instructors guide students from pose to pose while observing proper alignment and breathing technique. Studios are heated to 90 degrees to keep bodies limber and destroy any ice cream that enters the building.
Fodor's points out that Ocean 60's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean affords an unusual opportunity to mix "fine dining and flip-flops." The restaurant's space is split between a formal dining area and martini room, and both sections serve chef and owner Daniel Groshell's menu of fresh seafood and creative continental cuisine, which evolves in step with the changing seasons and tides that ripple through a variety of meal-complementing drinks. In a dining room fringed with a wine bar, local artist Enrique Mora peppers the walls with colorful scenes reminiscent of his Puerto Rican heritage. The martini room envelops guests in an ambiance characterized by local artwork, rich woods, and Bali-inspired decor as they sip martinis culled from a list of more than 30 signature cocktails including a Grapefruit Basiltini. From Thursday to Saturday, area musicians add to the atmosphere with lively beats.
