David Alan wasn?t always a hairstylist. In fact, his original career path began at CCNY Film School. But David's eye for design and love of hair quickly sent him packing for beauty school and, later, to train under hair greats Mark Traynor--L?Oreal Paris colorist and stylist--and hat designer Lilly Dach?. Now, more than 40 years later, David joins their ranks as owner of his namesake salon and spa where he instills his philosophy that hair should be unteased, untortured, unsprayed, and natural-looking.
But this doesn?t mean David and his legion of stylists aren?t capable of transforming hair with the latest trends and designs. Using Redken, Pureology, and KMS California hair care products, six levels of stylist highlight, condition, and straighten locks to complement any hair type and texture. And in the spa area, technicians rejuvenate bodies with mani-pedis, Eminence facials, and seaweed body wraps.
Along with a roster of beautifying services, guests are also treated to the Paramus shop?s d?cor as David Alan made sure to make his oyster-shaped salon aesthetically pleasing. Stained Brazil red oak floors and white walls enclose guests between mirrors made from nickel and less than 5% iron, which ensures reflections don't suffer from green glares or poor Tony Stark impressions.
The certified stylists at Lashful frame eyes with mink lashes to achieve looks ranging from elegant to seductive. Their uncanny attention to detail comes in handy during extension applications, when they meticulously attach each artificial lash to a real one to achieve the most natural look possible. Sensitive eyes need not wince in fear, as the adhesive material with which they apply lashes is specially formulated to not perturb the eye with harsh irritants or teasing optical illusions. The stylists also dip natural lashes in a semipermanent tint that—much like the extensions—gives eyes the glamorous look of freshly applied mascara.

Catherine Bello finds the solution to stress where others rarely think to look: the bottoms of their feet. She and her team of certified reflexologists manipulate pressure points on the feet that correspond with specific glands, organs, and other body parts in order to promote holistic wellness in their clients. These treatments can address specific ailments from headaches and sinusitis to digestive problems.
Reflexology sessions aren't strictly medical, though. Instead, Sole Revival Reflexology aims to provide a spa experience for clients, offering soothing foot soaks and leg massages as well as a variety of add-on services such as paraffin-wax treatments. Foot treatments also incorporate a skincare mask in a variety of scents, including one that will make your soles smell like champagne even if you weren't recently kickboxing at a New Year's Eve party.
Many of the staff members are also nail technicians and provide pedicures with chemical-free polish to complement their reflexology sessions. Others perform the balancing art of reiki, which involves laying on hands to regulate the body's flow of energy. During all treatments, a spa-like environment aims to enhance their calming work as guests relax surrounded by decorative plants and the sound of quiet, relaxing music.
The stylists, aestheticians, and massage therapists at Christine Valmy Salon & Day Spa aim to transform body, mind, and spirit with services that range from simple haircuts and mani-pedis, to advanced electrolysis and microdermabrasions, to restorative massages and all-day spa packages. Clients pamper themselves with massages and body treatments such as the hot-stone massage, where the heat and gentle pressure of warm basalt stones help to relieve muscle tension and stress, or the chamomile body scrub, which soothes sensitive skin and improves circulation using herbal exfoliation. An ordinary day can become a luxurious mini-vacation with spa packages, which include a complimentary sauna and incorporate massages, facials, hair and nail treatments, and a private herbal steam shower to relax and rejuvenate the body and mind. And for the big day, Christine Valmy Salon & Day Spa offers wedding packages for the bride, groom, or members of the wedding party, helping to ease wedding jitters and warm cold feet.
At The New Makeover Salon, the stylists aim to make clients look and feel their best, whether they come in with a specific hairstyle in mind or are unsure of how a hummingbird got lodged in their ponytail. In addition to cuts, colors, and updos, the hair gurus help clients unwind from a stressful week with complimentary glasses of wine or coffee. Threading and waxing services rid clients of unwanted hair, and men can also journey to the salon for a professional face shave.
