Dribbling dynamo Darren Pitzner leads all clinics and fills sessions with more positive reinforcement than the entire Congratulations section of Hallmark. Expect to get an earful of positive music, motivational speeches, and ethic-enforcing instruction during the practices. Fast-paced drills are organized to whip benchwarmers into big shots and big shots into humungous successes with a variety of game-speed stations (each is 3 to 7 minutes long).

Though its programs have resonated with kids throughout the Denver area, Kids? Nite Out Across America was created with parents in mind. While kids supervised by staffers participate in fun activities?including swimming, sports, and music?guardians can enjoy a night off and take advantage of the time to go to dinner, see a movie, or eat all the ice cream they want. And to give them peace of mind, each Kids? Nite Out Across America staff member is vetted via a national background check every year.
Trainers Daniel Torres and Heidi White help clients lose fat, gain muscle, and look their best in highly customized personal-training sessions. The trainers use a fitness assessment to determine which muscles are underactive or overactive, then design workouts that will correct existing imbalances. Sessions take place in both indoor and outdoor facilities.
A South Suburban Parks and Recreation course, Family Sports Golf Course showcases a nine-hole, par 31 layout that loops around a two-tier driving range. True to its name, the course caters to all members of the family, including seasoned adults practicing their short game touch, beginning juniors making a smooth foray into the game, and grandmothers looking to back up claims of 350-yard drives. Renovated in 2009, the two-tier driving range invites players to hone their stroke on one of 25 grass tees or 30 tees that are covered, lighted, and heated year-round.
The National Basketball Academy's instructors host clinics, training sessions, and tournaments for various age groups. Their coaching helps participants improve all aspects of their performance on the court, from shooting to defense, and their youth programs nurture sports skills in children as young as kindergarten. They also set up teams and leagues that allow players to compete in a supportive, friendly environment.
At the Jumpoline Park, the whole family can escape from the everyday stresses of work, school, and gravity. Decked out in rainbow colors, the trampolines send jumpers soaring into the air, giving them the feeling of walking on the moon, where the surface is made of inner-spring mattresses. Jumping teams lob balls at each other in high-flying games in the dodgeball area, and kids age 7 and under leap safely in their own section, protected from injury by padded walls. But this enclave doesn't house just trampolines. Toddlers play in their own soft-surface area, while parents relax under the skilled hands of in-house massage therapists. During breaks, everyone meets up at the coffee shop for a snack or a cup of frozen yogurt.
