A former staff sergeant in the Air Force. An airplane mechanic who repaired oxygen masks. A master massage therapist, registered medical assistant, and certified laser technician. Tina Long is all of these things and more. As the owner of Parker Med Spa, she combines her unique background with innovative technology to offer clients the latest anti-aging and beauty solutions.
Long helps her clients to deal with the frustration of weight loss with body-contouring treatments such as the Zerona and Yolo laser systems, having herself lost pounds, inches, and degrees of insulation with the fat-emulsifying devices. The historical ambiance, array of facial and body treatments, and advanced technology earned her spa recognition on ABC 7 and CityVoter's 2011 A-List; it was named a finalist in the Best Day Spa category and nominated in the Best Medical Spa category.
The practice is located within the charming yellow Hoskins House, a century-old Victorian landmark surrounded by cottonwood trees, complete with a porch swing. Inside, massage therapists and aestheticians perform relaxing massages, hot-stone pedicures, and skin-rejuvenating chemical peels in 15 private rooms. Technicians use seven different lasers to perform procedures ranging from vein and hair removal to nonsurgical face-lifts.
Whether it's a manicure in advance of a big date or a pedicure that caps off a "me day" at the spa, Gina has seen it all. With more 25 years of experience as a nail technician, three years as an OPI educator, and a stint as the owner of her own successful salon, she beautifies fingers and toes with treatments ranging from traditional mani-pedis to treatments involving acrylic add-ons and Shellac polish.
After beginning to adopt more environmentally conscious practices in their personal lives, hairstylists Joy and Jeremy realized how hard the salon atmosphere could be on Mother Nature and set out to open their own eco-friendly salon. Their salon's open floor plan, organized into chic styling stations and suffused in natural light from numerous surrounding windows, highlights bright modern salon furniture, all of which is reused. In addition to the décor, their green reach expands to the salon's all-natural styling products and energy-efficient, retractable blow dryers, which dangle from the ceiling like a paratrooper after a poorly executed landing. Their resident aestheticians, nail techs, and massage therapists dole out the salon's expansive menu of services, pampering clients with custom facials, head-to-toe waxing treatments, and relaxing mani-pedis.
Carrie-Ann Schield is a member of Blue Mist Salon's talented team of stylists. Inside the salon's sleek loft space, which includes concrete floors, vertical beams and track lighting, she harnesses her creative energy to craft coifs. She trims tresses and styles strands with Oribe, Bumble and bumble, L'Or?al, and Moroccanoil products.
OP Nails II is like something out of a thumb, pinky, or index finger's wildest dreams. Upon entering the spa, a rainbow of polish lining the shelves welcomes clients to a nailcare oasis. Regular polishes, durable gels, and a wide range of shellac tintspresent clients and aestheticians with a world of possibilities to cap off mani-pedi services.
Those services unfold at relaxing nail stations, where aestheticians tend to cuticles, sculpt nails, and soften skin with products from the New Age Loc Nu Skin Line. Aside from polishes, the techs can finish with full sets of acrylic and gel nails, which are stronger than normal nails and don't fall off upon being tickled. OP Nails II's team also throws Happy Hour every Friday at 4 p.m., during which they serve wine and snacks to complement their mani-pedis or other services, such as waxing treatments.
