Usha Salon & Day Spa might best be known for meticulous threading services, which twice garnered a spot on Baltimore Magazine's annual "Best Of" list. But the skills of the house stylists and aestheticians don't stop there. They can also reshape coifs with stylish cuts and add face-framing dimension with highlights services. Nearby, Usha's henna artists use traditional Indian techniques to install intricate designs that are perfect for standing apart from the crowd or blending in with a pile of tea-stained lace. Clients can also take a break from humdrum chores with soothing facials and massages.

Kate Fleming and Jonathan Hancock founded Live Well. Be Well. to help their clients conquer both chronic pain and subtle discomfort. After graduating from Baltimore School of Massage, this nationally licensed and state-certified duo became Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals members. Today, Kate and Jonathan draw on their knowledge of anatomy and physiology as they knead sinews with 10 different modalities, such as Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, and reflexology. While they work, they facilitate smooth strokes with Bon Vital Organica, a paraben-free lotion bolstered by natural botanicals. Live Well. Be Well. also provides private showers, where guests can bask in a refreshing deluge of water—which can only otherwise be experienced by diving into a car full of water balloons, pointy hat first.
Enigma's experienced practitioners lull meddling mind matter into a state of full-body bliss as soothing scents slither into nostrils and muscles succumb to the hearty force of healing hands. A 60-minute deep-tissue massage gets to the root of sinews' struggles, emancipating weary, overworked tendons with long, slow strokes and tactical kneads that snap fingers in the face of tension while evicting overstayed stresses that have been squatting in the melancholy caverns of back muscles. To the accompaniment of ambient live music, guests can bask in Enigma's harmonious environment while sipping on a complimentary herbal tea or cocktail of aromatherapy oils.
