When he's not busy recording and performing his original songs, Billy Redfield shares his passion for the guitar with students at Baltimore Guitar Instruction. Held at his clients' homes, Billy's lessons accommodate beginning and advanced students alike. His expertise encompasses all of the instrument's fundamentals, from proper chord formations and strumming techniques to restringing and tuning the guitar. After teaching his students to read tablature, Billy even helps them learn their favorite popular songs, from Beatles? pop tunes to Beethoven's psychedelic sonatas.

Alex Layne, a graduate of the illustrious Peabody Institute, edifies aspiring shredders of all ages with guitar-playing prowess he purloined from members of punk group Reptile House and other musicians such as Felicia Carter and Antony West. During two 30- or 45-minute lessons, students can perfect their plucking on an electric, acoustic, or inflatable axe as Alex summons more than 20 years of teaching know-how to impart basic, intermediate, or advanced skills. Customized to each pupil’s individual aptitude, sessions can cover fundamentals that include open chords and strumming techniques, or such advanced talents as mastering pentatonic scales and upstaging lead singers. Today’s Groupon may also be redeemed for online lessons via Skype, allowing Alex the ability to zoom in on complicated chords.
Let There Be Rock School disproves the cynical idiom, "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach." with instructors who are working rock musicians. All of them are well-versed in performance and eager to coach young, aspiring stars. During weekly one-on-one lessons, they help students with their playing and stage presence, preparing them for the school's version of a recital: a concert at a local music venue.
Their mentorship is only one part of the curriculum, however. After being sorted into a band, students rehearse and jam with their teammates under the guidance of a band manager. When they aren't working on their songs, they retire to the Rock Lounge, where members can watch movies and study Pete Townshend's windmill technique in super slow-motion.
Kids can sign up for one of two Let There Be Rock School programs. The All Access Lesson Program is meant for beginning musicians, and familiarizes them with an instrument. More advanced students enroll in the VIP All Access Performance program, which focuses on music theory and includes band practice.
Showcasing their tonal talents from the Washington D.C. area to their latest Houston-area locale, the staff of Just Rock Enterprises helps guests live their musical dreams by offering private lessons in voice, piano, stage choreography, and songwriting. Instructors customize lessons to fit each student?s needs, offering unique ways of imparting knowledge such as conducting lessons via Skype or by corralling several interested parties into small-group summer camps.
ArtSmash, Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s annual gala, promises to present a lively evening of food, drinks, arts, and entertainment, with proceeds benefitting CHAW’s tuition assistance, outreach, and education programs. Admittance to the celebration gets gala-goers a potable philanthropic portion of delectable food, palate-pleasing wine and beer, and a signature cocktail. During the three-hour festivities, a spirited assortment of performers will entertain attendees, from a-capella collective Not What You Think to the casts of CHAWbaret and The Mikado. Take home work from local artists or the Capitol Hill Art League members in a silent auction, participate in invigorating dance lessons, or learn how to paint like the Renaissance masters, all skills and resources which can be later incorporated into lobbying for federally funded anarchist-hardcore day camps.
