Students at Dance Dynamics, a registered member of the Canadian Dance Federation, may recognize the director, Herb Clarke. The veteran dance teacher and Dance Saskatchewan board of directors member has starred in his own teaching series on Shaw Cable and has appeared alongside Juliet Prowse on PBS’s Championship Ballroom Dancing. He harnesses his fleet-footed expertise and choreography experience to lead students of all skill levels through lessons in a variety of dance styles, such as rumba, salsa, swing, and waltz. In doing so, Clarke and his teaching staff help students reap the benefits of dance, such as stress relief, weight loss, and the ability to summon Fred Astaire by whispering his name into a candlelit mirror.
The experienced professional instructors at Dance Pointe teach the art of dance and the joy of movement to students of all ages. Choose from classes in ballet, tap, Broadway, funky chicken, hip-hop, tumbling, or modern dance. The studio offers combination classes for teeny tiny tots who need a basic introduction to rhythm. Advanced-level classes are also available, but the school requires previous instruction, an evaluation, and a recitation of the alphabet backward before students will be admitted. Classes are scheduled once a week, making this deal good for four classes, or just enough time to perfect each move of "YMCA." If students want to take more than one class per week, they can apply the $50 to their total.
Ballroom Revolution's certified instructors teach adults and kids that it's easy to dance the ballroom styles. They believe anyone can master ballroom, which they prove during private and group lessons where students grow in grace and confidence. To enhance the self-confidence that pupils earn in lessons, the studio also hosts dance parties where fancy-footed prodigies socialize and show off their moves.
Jenks Dance Academy is hip-hop and ballet, it's tumbling and it's jazz...but it's never quiet. That's the common denominator in this otherwise versatile dance school. Regardless of genre, all classes are active, engaging, and led by professional dance instructors keen on keeping things quick-footed and interactive. Jenks welcomes boys and girls as young as 12 months old for classes and camps that incorporate fitness, creativity, and self-discipline. So whether your daughter's enrolled in the princess camp?a ballerina-focused dance camp with props such as wands and tiaras?or your kid's strutting their stuff with swagger in the superstars/hip-hop class, they'll be honing their flexibility and coordination, building physical strength, and building the self-confidence necessary to drop jaws in the dance recital or produce aisle.
Jenks's studio is staffed with professional instructors. It's also equipped with modern enhancements in place to facilitate structure, dexterity, and safety. For instance, there are one-way observational windows, raised wood floors that prevent injuries or kids tiring out, and a separate kids' play room. The center also features a boutique with shoes and apparel.
A Piedi Dance Company's team of instructors teach dancers of all skill levels the know-how of executing fancy footwork. Syllabuses based on internationally renowned ballroom standards send bodies shimmying through lessons in a variety of styles including Latin, swing, country western, and lip-syncing into a hairbrush. In group classes, aficionados demonstrate footwork at a glacial pace and repeat the basic steps several times. The group setting prepares dancers for real-world shindigs, so they can navigate other boogying bodies in close proximity and know how to relieve cramps in their jazz hands. Private lessons can be tailored towards the individual student's learning style, so instructors can hone footwork and give an in-depth look at each step.
Waltzes are common at weddings and formal parties. Salsa, swing, and country western dance might be more common in gleefully rowdy bars. Even people who have mastered all of those can still practice the constant motion of merengue or the easy sway of the fox trot. The instructors at Strictly Ballroom have put in the years necessary to master all of these styles, allowing them to match patrons with the steps they'll enjoy most. The gleaming hardwood floors of the school's event center make it an ideal venue for dance parties, which let students practice their new moves together.
