Apart from your business's main attraction, do you offer any "hidden" services or activities that visitors are always delighted to learn about?
Our head coach has 13 years of experience and was an NCAA Division 1 strength and conditioning coach, and our assistant head coach has 11 years of personal-training experience. So the level of detail and professionalism is more than most people receive at other CrossFit gyms.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
We started our business out of a two-car garage and have grown into a 3,750-square-foot facility.
Have you ever been a patron of your own business? If so, what was the most enjoyable part?
Yes. The best part was the coaching that we received and the attention to detail that allowed us to get better from where we were before.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We want you to have FUN.
Though the CrossFit exercise technique has steamrolled the nation, CrossFit Madre is family place through and through. It's an amalgamation of Peter Sandford's background in hapkido and weight conditioning and his wife Rocki's masters degree in public health and nutrition from UCLA. During intimate group classes, the instructors lead students in workouts that range from high-energy cardio and bar work to kettlebell weight training. This personalized combination of techniques helps clients set individual goals to tone physiques and promote endurance.
One of the major hurtles to starting an exercise program is the fear of falling behind in a fitness class that's over your head. That's why The Fitness Station's personal-training sessions take a four-stage approach that ensures bodies can adapt and build endurance before attempting skills that require strength and power. Their group classes are just as accommodating?supportive instructors foster a welcoming environment in small-group training, yoga, and Zumba sessions designed to burn calories and melt fat while building functional strength.

Achieving the title of CrossFit Level 1 coach hasn’t stopped CrossFit Survival’s owner, Shannon Franklin, from learning more. In recent years, she has received CrossFit certifications for nutrition, football, kids’ training, Olympic weightlifting, and running. Shannon’s well-rounded background and enthusiasm for fitness drives her facility in La Crescenta, where she and her staff hold group classes that incorporate CrossFit’s workout of the day, a daily series of high-intensity, functional exercises such as pushups, power lifts, box jumps, and sprints. Each workout is personalized to the exerciser’s abilities as opposed to the abilities of a favorite superhero.
Crossfit Array's coaches are committed to helping students reach their fitness goals. They lead students through energetic group CrossFit classes and intense one-on-one training sessions. Customization and personal attention are guaranteed in both. To bolster the fitness programs, coaches also focus on nutrition, providing a well-rounded path to overall health and optimal fitness.
