Heidi Giselle first started dabbling in makeup when she was a little girl, and her happy clients were her three sisters and her friends. Upon graduating from high school, she studied makeup at Award Studio in West Hollywood and became a certified makeup artist a year later. She continued her education at California State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in child development. However, despite this change of studies, Heidi continued doing makeup on the side, and after she graduated, she continued her work as a freelance, on-call makeup artist for salons. In the years that followed, fundraisers, charity events, and makeup parties and classes filled her calendar and ultimately inspired her to open Darling Devil's Makeup Studio in 2011.
Lounge-style furniture, jazz music, and a portrait of Marilyn Monroe give her studio a vintage vibe where clients can relax and try on handmade jewelry. While they enjoy the ambiance, Heidi either teaches makeup classes or applies makeup?tapping into her inner child, who still loves getting all dolled up and helping others do the same.
Isabel, a lead stylist and makeup artist at Tangles Salon, has spent her seven years in the field specializing in a number of styling techniques. She is a hair-color expert with ample skills in balayage highlights, ombre effect, and color correction. She knows the Deva haircutting techniques for curly hair, and trims a clean hairline on men. The talented stylist is also certified in ShrinkLink and Skin Weft hair extensions.
Stylist, Tonya Fairley is a L'Or?al Professionnel educator and has been designing hair with DevaCut certification for more than 20 years. The DevaCurl Curly Girl dry haircut is a process that, like carving your name on the seat of a Tilt-A-Whirl, takes about 90 minutes and produces distinctive curls. The hair tamer also specializes in balayage and ombre highlights, straightening treatments, and extensions.
Master stylist Fredy Arboleda trained in London and Paris before opening his first salon, Ravissant, which served its clientele for more than 20 years. During that time, Fredy was inspired to create a salon in Pasadena that would provide his customers with a truly luxurious experience. To that end he was very purposeful when choosing the interior design of The Beauty Lounge, looking to capture a peaceful and modern vibe that would conjure up an oasis-like atmosphere.
The services the Lounge provides, which range from cuts and colors to manicures and full-body waxing, are all supervised by Fredy. Guests can also get pampered with multivitamin skin treatments, acne facials, and glycolic treatments that can be enhanced with seaweed masks, paraffin hand dips, or ginseng treatments. All these treatments are designed to help clients completely unwind, like a ball of yarn in the hands of a particularly industrious kitten.
Taking their name from the 18% chromium and 8% nickel that transform regular steel into stainless steel, the staff of 18|8 Fine Men's Salons master grooming services to transform their clients into chiseled gentlemen. A greeter waits at the salon entrance with a complimentary beverage for each client and guides him to his stylist's booth or to a private or semiprivate treatment area for facials, massage, and other grooming sessions. Stylists carefully cut and color the hair of their clients, finishing Executive cuts and styles with five-minute shoulder massages and Bay Rum hot towels.
Technicians groom hands with MANicures and faces with straight-edge blade shaves and hot lather eos moisturizing shave cream. Guests can relax during 20-minute therapeutic massages to finish their visit and ease any tension built up in hands and forearms by excessive whittling.
