At Team Extreme Health & Fitness Bootcamp, the word "misfit" doesn't carry its traditional meaning. Instead, it's an acronym that stands for "Military Inspired Sports and Functional Intense Training." Of those six words, it's nearly impossible to choose which is most important—although, intense seems to sum things up nicely. Team Extreme boot-camp-style workouts challenge every muscle in the body. Classes are efficient, packed with energy, and led by a group of motivational trainers turned drill instructors. Those instructors ride the momentum created by the facility's boot camps into various other workout regimens, including sports-specific training, self-defense classes, and even boot camps for brides-to-be.
The accomplished instructors at Primal Strength - New York have something in common: once upon a time, they each found themselves half buried in empty fast-food cartons. Getting into fitness changed all that. Today, Tristan and Jeff help guide clients down the road toward fuller, healthier living. The trainers are certified in using kettlebell weights, which provide an interesting and exciting change of pace from traditional workouts.
Fitness 4 You's nationally certified trainers understand the science of fitness and the barriers that often prevent continued improvement. They also understand the importance of meeting an individual's needs, which is why the facility is home to such diverse programs. Whether a client is looking to lose weight, increase their flexibility, or improve their athletic performance, Fitness 4 You's trainers match those fitness goals with the proper training regimen. They do so through corrective-exercise programs, nutrition guidance, and group classes such as boot camp and Zumba.
Under the tutelage of Shihan Allie Alberigo, students of all ages learn the arts of ninjutsu and classical jujitsu, revamped for contemporary warriors. With four decades of martial-arts training under his belt, Allie Alberigo teaches his students about hand-to-hand combat and the use of weapons; he has also expanded classes to include disciplines such as judo, yoga, and kickboxing. The Little Warrior program builds punching ability in children as young as 3, and the Third Eye Insight program includes martial arts, yoga, and meditation classes for students who are blind or visually impaired. During these classes, sighted students can also spar and learn while wearing blindfolds. The facility includes two training floors and an archery range, which gives students ample room to flex without destroying nearby equipment.
From a season as a professional ballplayer in Marina di Ravenna, Italy, to a position as spring-training consultant for the New York Yankees, Coach Frank Dolan has seen, trained in, and taught conditioning techniques around the globe. As his professional baseball days metamorphosed into a career in sports performance, he decided that students—kids and adults—needed access to the same techniques that professional athletes were using to hone their bodies. So, with the aid of his father, Coach Dolan opened All 4 Sports and Fitness to reach a broader audience. Now, students of all stripes come to the 3,000-square-foot Sports and Fitness Performance center to get in shape or learn the sport they love, selecting the program that best suits their needs from the multitudinous course offerings. Apart from training in football, lacrosse, and snowboarding, the Coach also teaches high-performance fitness boot camps, readily squeezed into the busy schedules of adults or used to help teenagers clarify their contentious relationship with footwear.
