A mother and her teenage daughter stand at the counter side-by-side, chop, chop, chopping in unison. Neither have cooked much with vegetables before, but under the friendly guidance of experts, they find their veggie phobias fading. This is a recurring theme within The Food Evolution's kitchen, where students learn to toss their culinary insecurities into the flames and begin having fun with meal prep. At The Food Evolution, which Diane Hoch founded in 2010, students aged 16 and older learn from professional instructors how to create healthful, tasty, preservative-free meals. Classes highlight either techniques or styles of cuisine and vary in levels of participation—from demonstration classes where students observe and take notes, to hands-on courses in which students are required to touch everything with all 10 fingers. In private nutritional-counseling sessions, Diane, a certified nutritional-health counselor, tailors advice and programs to help individuals reach their health and wellness goals.

Unique Training Group's cofounder Tamir Greenberger believes that the only way to get into shape is to put in the hard work, but that doesn't mean you have to do it on your own. He believes that it is a trainer's job to make sure clients are working hard at the right things, so he has built Unique Training Group around that idea. Here, he and his trainers tailor a custom workout routine for each client, ultimately helping them meet their fitness and wellness goals. When designing a program, he takes into account their body type, fitness level, diet, and personality, and incorporates exercises that use equipment from treadmills to battling ropes to kettlebells. He also makes sure that every client is supervised by a trainer at all times to ensure that they use proper form, avoid injury, and never sweat purple. And to make their clients' lifestyle change complete, he also offers meal planning services and leads grocery store tours to help them make healthy choices.

One can look behind every stationary bike or beneath each treadmill, and never come across a man at American Woman Fitness Center. They will, however, find a swimming pool, rows of cardio machines, and a studio that hosts more than 50 fitness classes. Because the health club only admits women at its two locations, gals can feel more comfortable and confident as they break a sweat on elliptical machines and weight-training equipment. The all-female staff leads a slew of group fitness classes, including CrossFit, Corebar training, Zumba, and yoga classes, some of which take place in the swimming pool and can result in highly desirable dolphin abs. In addition to classes, they offer personal-training sessions along with weight-loss and nutritional counseling tailored to female physiques. Clients can also monitor their children in the childcare area via TV screens while they work out in cardio or group fitness areas.

Yoga, ballet barre, Pilates, and Zumba aren't one-dimensional workouts. That's why they and other similar classes are offered at Spectrum Wellness Center. There, the team of instructors pushes students toward overall wellness, not just exterior goals like six-pack abs and chiseled thumb muscles. Classes are kept small so students can receive personalized attention, which is ideal for all skill levels. Spectrum Wellness Center's holistic approach also shows during one-on-one injury-prevention sessions, which lets athletes get back in the game without risking performance.
