Skin 2 Love's mission is right in the name: to help clients achieve a complexion they'll adore. To that end, the staff of skilled aestheticians performs customized, cleansing facials, and employ fruit enzymes to exfoliate and promote healthy glows. As non-literal frosting on the cake, they can also tint brows and lashes, or wax away unwanted hair. Whether guests seek a quick treatment or a more leisurely spa day, Skin 2 Love's private rooms and cool, neutral-toned decor help set a relaxing mood.
What started as a beauty shop operating out of Aisha Khalid's home has now, 20 years later, blossomed into 10 full-service, women-only salons. The aestheticians at Aisha's Salon & Spa were some of the first to bring threading to the faces of Houston ladies, whisking away unruly brows, chin fuzz, and emperor-tamarin mustaches with a thin cotton filament. For body depilation, they turn to traditional waxing, and body polishes and facials leave skin rejuvenated and smooth. Stylists trim, straighten, and color tresses, and makeup artists apply finishing touches with traditional or airbrush products.
Since opening its first eyebrow-centered salon within a Walmart in Indianapolis, Seva has expanded its locations and services. The eyebrow specialists remain true to their roots by creating flattering arches with threading and waxing techniques. Additionally, they tackle signs of aging and acne with skin-specific facials.

Do you agree with the phrase "beauty is on the inside?" Why or why not?
Yes. Our objective is to provide clients with services that help them feel good about themselves, so our ultimate focus is not on dramatically changing physical appearance, but on our clients' wellbeing.
What's the most common beauty mistake you see people make? What would you recommend they do instead?
We have had many clients come to us after their eyelashes have been damaged by other lash extension studios. It is common for lash studios to have a policy of appeasing clients' desires for a bold, dramatic look by applying lashes that are too long, thick, or heavy for their natural lashes. Our goal is to maintain the integrity of the natural lashes, so we take both the client's desired look and the state of their natural lashes into consideration when applying extensions.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
The owner was herself an avid fan of eyelash extensions before becoming a Lash Lounge franchisee.
At Elizabeth Esthetics and Massage, cosmeceuticals by Rhonda Allison line the shelves, and issues of Vogue and Architectural Digest are splayed across tables. These artifacts point to the fact that owner Elizabeth Sampson applies a scientific yet creative mindset when embarking on skincare treatments and massages.
Before each service, Elizabeth draws up a treatment plan that targets specific needs, from wrinkle reduction to tension relief. Then she delivers results. During the pumpkin refresher facial, she brightens skin by infusing it with antioxidants; during the deep-tissue massage, she works out concentrated tension with her elbows and thumbs. Elizabeth sees to it that every client feels comfortable during treatments. To this end, she offers complimentary beverages and answers frequently asked questions on topics such as how to pick the right massage modality and whether it's OK to drool on the face pillow.
Early in her career as a licensed aesthetician, Suwuan English painted faces for cosmetic companies such as MAC and Elizabeth Arden. Now, she's an established makeup artist, prettying faces for Kingdom View Television Talk Show and Illusion Model Management. Her work—which has graced the pages of Black Enterprise and Bliss Bridal magazine—ranges from subtle, natural makeup to hot-pink feather eyelash extensions and sultry red lips. When she's not gussying up celebrities, she primps her private clientele with cosmetic services such as facials and airbrush makeup. She also hosts makeup workshops that teach ladies how to get all dolled up without hiring an unemployed puppet painter.
