Sailing in Pearland

Select Local Merchants

The party-loving minds behind Yacht Party Cruises wanted a creative way for locals and tourists to explore a city's late-night atmosphere. Eventually they launched a fleet of luxury yachts into the waters of eight of North America's most lively urban waterfronts. On each vessel, festivities abound as DJs spin everything from hip-hop to Sinatra, inviting passengers to shake a leg in between trips to the full bar or buffet lined with hot appetizers. All yachts boast extravagant details such as wraparound decks, fireplaces, or a glass atrium that hangs above the dance floor offering dancers a direct view of the man in the moon's game of solitaire. Guests can also step onto the decks for fresh air or panoramic views of city's skyline.

Kicking back on the deck of a boat is easy when all you have to worry about is the occasional wind gust and avoiding?or embracing?the occasional spray. At Sailaway Clear Lake Charters, the toughest decision clients make is how long they'd like to stay out on the water. During cruises, Captain Matt Ceviker?who has more than 30 years of sailing experience under his belt?takes the helm of the multi-hull boat, navigating through the sparkling waters of Galveston Bay and Clear Lake. Sailing guests are more than welcome to bring along snacks and alcoholic beverages. All utensils are provided, including ice, cups, and temporary gills.

The paddling aficionados at Austin Canoe & Kayak maintain a stable of masterfully maintained vessels for outfitting all levels of aquatic explorers. Solitary river riders can transport single rental kayaks from the store's waterless location and drop into any body of water they choose, avoiding crowded routes and groups of largemouth bass that blab everyone's best-kept secrets. Adventurous couples can romantically float down Mother Nature's own tunnel of love in a spacious tandem kayak while fairytale marine life sings melodies to set the mood. Single-person boats such as the Wilderness Systems sit-inside Pungo 120 can best the currents of the Brazos River, and a Malibu 2XL from Ocean Kayak can ferry two-person teams seaward on salty jaunts in the Gulf of Mexico.

An affiliate school of the American Sailing Association, All Points of Sail Sailing School teaches students of all levels how to sail with confidence under the tutelage of experienced guides and instructors. Instructors sprinkle landlubbers with the knowledge necessary to tear through the water on any size vessel, ranging from large-keel boats to windsurfing boards and kayaks. The school's diverse coterie of courses covers crucial nautical subjects, including sailing certification, coastal navigation, chartering, and night sailing. The expert captains also lead charters through the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston Bay as well as summer camps in which kids man kayaks and Sunfish sailboats to gain hands-on practice, which is believed to be the second-best teacher after self-hypnosis.

B Sailing's origins go back nearly 40 years and 1,300 miles, when Alan Bates learned to sail on his father's boat on Lake Erie. His dad welcomed anyone aboard who had an interest in sailing, turning the boat into a de-facto sailing academy that ran both regattas and chartered pleasure cruises. Having gone on to race in the Great Lakes, along the Atlantic Coast, and in the Gulf of Mexico, Mr. Bates now continues his lifelong passion through B Sailing. Both students and members have access to a fleet of J/Boats, which are known for their stability, ease of operation, and sails stitched together from Blackbeard’s 400-thread-count bed sheets. Harbored at Seabrook Shipyard, these vessels glide onto Clear Lake and Galveston Bay.
