Who's the Michelle behind Michelle's Esthetics? There are a few ways to answer that question. She's an aesthetician with a decade of experience. She's an expert in services that range from waxing to eyelash extensions to spray tanning. And she's someone who can think on her feet, or hands if she happens to be mid-cartwheel. For proof, just look to her one-hour custom facial, which comes with a custom lineup of extractions, cleansers, exfoliants, and other skincare products depending on the client's specific needs?though everyone should find relaxation in included shoulder, scalp, and facial massage.

When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I worked in a salon as a secretary and decided I wanted to become a manicurist, own my own business, and pamper people. I love meeting new people, talking to them, and helping them relax.
Do you or your staff have any special certifications or degrees?
I received my Minx Nails certification in 2007.
Out of your entire repertoire, which is your favorite service to perform and why?
I love performing spa pedicures because they are really relaxing for my clients. I also remove dead skin from the feet?something that many salons don't do.
Calling on at least 10 years of experience each, the stylists at Hair Zone transform looks with an arsenal of creative beauty tools. Beyond precision haircuts, they imbue stunning color with Schwarzkopf products, including the Igora Color10 line that can cover gray hairs in just 10 minutes. For even bolder styles, they affix custom hair extensions to natural locks, harnessing subtle shades to blend in with the original hair or funky hues to create the effects of highlights without using dye or hiding inside a child's coloring book. The stylists can even enhance texture with frizz-boosting Brazilian blowouts, and boost luster with moisturizing shine-enhancer treatments. Amid its sunshine-yellow walls and glossy wood floors, Hair Zone lines its shelves with Nexxus Organics, Shiva, and CHI products.
What started as a beauty shop operating out of Aisha Khalid's home has now, 20 years later, blossomed into 10 full-service, women-only salons. The aestheticians at Aisha's Salon & Spa were some of the first to bring threading to the faces of Houston ladies, whisking away unruly brows, chin fuzz, and emperor-tamarin mustaches with a thin cotton filament. For body depilation, they turn to traditional waxing, and body polishes and facials leave skin rejuvenated and smooth. Stylists trim, straighten, and color tresses, and makeup artists apply finishing touches with traditional or airbrush products.
Originally an interior designer and color coordinator, Nisha realized she was meant to design hair when her cousin's makeup artist fell ill the day of her wedding and Nisha stepped in to save the day. She already had the fundamentals??her interior design experience taught her to listen to the client, visualize the whole picture, and customize. It's now 20 years since that wedding and Nisha's still at it at Nisha's Salon. She's hand picked a team of aestheticians and stylists, and together they design and color hair in a way that embellishes each client's individual features such as the shape of their face and the color of their eyes. They also offer facials, waxing, and makeup.
