When clients walk into CrossFit Peekskill, they're not inundated with the rows of elliptical machines and treadmills common in typical gyms. This warehouse-influenced gym houses wall-to-wall Olympic weights, gymnastics rings, and rowing machines. During workouts steeped in functional fitness, clients climb ropes and flip giant tires. Coaches are on-hand to ensure clients are practicing the correct form during each exercise, which include swinging kettlebells and lifting medicine balls. To help workouts fit into everyone's schedule, CrossFit classes are offered every Monday–Saturday, and open gym hours are scheduled seven days a week.
"We give kids the confidence to protect themselves." These eight words sum up the motto for MartialArtsProgramsforkids.com as well as the mission of their curriculum. At a wealth of locations along the East Coast, youngsters learn confidence, discipline, and respect as they boost skills in a variety of disciplines, including jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts. The skills learned in these lessons can also help them defend themselves in the face of bullies and family cats that won't share the remote control.
Medicine balls, barbells, tires for flipping, and other strength-training equipment is packed into Adrenalin Gym. Seven days a week, its trainers assist clients as they work their way through the gym. Personal-training programs may incorporate pull-ups, dead lifts, or clean and jerks depending on whether clients wants to bulk up or throw their old car into the sea.
