In 2004, five longtime friends decided to turn their love of American craft beer and classic arcade games into a business model. The result was Barcade, which unleashes night owls upon dozens of 1980s arcade consoles as bartenders pull from a nearly equal number of taps. Their rotating selection of American craft beers features creations from such breweries as Allagash, Founders, and Victory, each pint the ideal complement to vintage games ranging from Galaga and Centipede to Donkey Kong and Q*Bert. In addition to their unending search for the tastiest brews and the best games, the owners also commit to running their business in an ecologically conscious manner. At any given time, at least 75% of their beer list is made up of styles brewed within a few miles of the bar, allowing them to return empty kegs to their original breweries for cleaning and reuse. They garnish their cocktails with compostable and sustainable drinking straws and stirring sticks, and sling them atop a bar constructed from found and recycled materials. Even the electricity used to power the arcade machines hails from local wind farms, where farmers spend all day blowing out birthday candles.

The experienced technicians at Bux-Mont Roofing shore up shelters and protect families from Mother Nature's wrath with an array of professional services performed seven days a week. While focusing on skillful workmanship, they repair roofs, install shingles, and buttress homes with aluminum siding. When gutters get clogged, they ascend silver stepladders to extract gunk, and they can prevent future buildup by installing gutter guards dressed like Roman soldiers.

For every human, there are at least 200 million individual insects crawling, flying, and burrowing on the planet. Several thousand of the world’s six-legged rulers make their home at the Insectarium, a huge interactive museum dedicated to these fascinating arthropods. The three-floor museum includes exhibits ranging from live exotic insects and thriving colonies to movie rooms and a man-made spider web playground. Visitors can meet a 12-inch walking stick insect or watch the light glimmer off a metallic gold beetle. Observe the social structure of a functioning beehive and gain an understanding of the pint-sized politics of pheromones as they catalogue which bees the queen deigns to have tea with. Museum attendees can kick back for hour-long travelling shows, which bring insects from distant lands to interact with kids.

The original grounds guys were a band of 10 brothers with a passion for landscaping. Together, they built The Grounds Guys around their love of freshly cut grass and well-manicured topiaries in 1987 and have expanded ever since. Together, they sharpen their tools every day before heading to people's homes to landscape and maintain exquisite yards.
