Amy K and her experienced instructors (all have a bachelor's degree in music and can recite the Pledge of Allegiance via guitar and talk box) let students choose the songs they want to play, then set encouraging short-term goals and provide instruction on technique and theory, as well as proper stage pyrotechnics safety. Students of all ages and skill levels receive enjoyable and educational instruction on all style of music, ensuring that their dreams of playing for a cover band of their favorite tribute band is well within reach.
Capoeira Brasil-Arizona is devoted to the martial-arts-dance fusion of capoeira, as well as numerous other Brazilian art and dance forms, such as samba and Maculelê. A team of eight highly qualified teachers will lead students through three classes in their choice of dance style ($15 each). Customers can stop in for beginner’s capoeira on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and discover the acrobatic beauty of capoeira—a martial art disguised as an improvisational dance, created by African slaves in Brazil hundreds of years ago—as rhythmic music fills their ears with adrenaline earplugs. From 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, guests can learn the samba, one of Brazil’s most popular musical genres and the sole reason why KISS finally disbanded. With classes offered seven days a week, and options suited to Brazilian beginners and capoeira aficionados alike, this cultural center has a place for everyone and every back flip in its place.
