  • Mississippi State University Meridian
Drumline Live transports the African-American marching-band tradition to the vaunted theatrical stage of the Arsht Center. An armada of musicians culled from historically black colleges gathers in a vibrant stage show, with vivid, drum-filled musical selections illustrating the drumline's artistic lineage in African culture through classic Earth, Wind & Fire cuts and chart-busting top 40 hip-hop hits. While dazzlingly complex drum cadences fill the audience's ears, choreographed dance routines keep their eyes from the temptation to turn into a second set of ears. This Groupon nets a single seat for the January 16 performance on the second of four tiers at the architecturally striking Arsht Center, which also features elegant dining options (not included with this Groupon).

  • Coral Reef Dive Shop
Coral Reef's instructors help fledgling divers to fall in love with scuba diving, guiding students as they master buoyancy-control skills and environmental awareness. The scuba teachers oversee divers as they advance from beginner to master scuba diver in small and private classes at their PADI five-star facility, where water shimmers in both indoor and outdoor pools. Additionally, instructors teach specialized skills such as cave diving, rescue diving, and how to become a certified scuba instructor. They also pull up their anchors to take regular diving trips to exciting, watery locals such as Panama City Beach and William Howard Taft's tub.

  • Slidell Rocks Climbing Gym
Though severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina just five months after its debut, Slidell Rocks Climbing Gym rebuilt and reopened just months later and continues to provide the community with opportunities to build up muscular and cardio strength. The climbing center showcases top-rope challenges on walls nearly 40 feet high, as well as lower courses for younger climbers. Two bouldering rooms mimic the lifestyle of ancient arachnid cavemen with rooftop grips and seven hangboards. Between summit attempts, climbers can relax in the concessions area, watching their favorite sports on the televisions and munching on rock candy harvested from an active sugar volcano.

  • Sylvan Learning Center
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don?t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews. Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan?s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. After-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.

  • The Mississippi School of Protocol and Etiquette
Jay Pearson’s expertise may lie in diplomatic protocol (which he learned during his 14 years at The Foreign Service Institute in D.C.), but his passions lie with children’s and corporate etiquette. That’s why he and his staff welcome students of all ages to polish their performance in various social situations at the only school of it's kind in Mississippi. For example, their adult programs teach workplace leaders how to communicate. Whereas kids’ programs relay everything from the basics of saying hello to interviewing dos and don’ts.
