For The Sunflower Center founder Lydia Kindheart, healthy food is a simple, powerful way to strengthen and nurture communities. This nurturing instinct led Ms. Kindheart to found Lydia’s Organics, which supplies grocery stores across the country with organic and vegan goods. Now, at The Sunflower Center, she continues her mission by positing her restaurant as a community hub; the restaurant boasts a kids' playspace with wooden toys as well as 8,000 square feet of space for community events, as noted by Examiner.com.
The cuisine matches the wholesome vibe. Serving Lydia's Organic Cuisine, chefs craft veggie patties from quinoa and beets, and they stuff buckwheat crepes with fresh kale and vegan pesto.
For added entertainment, The Sunflower Cafe also provides live musical events and classes.

Colorful bowls of lamb curry catch diners' eyes as they travel through the spacious dining room, alighting on tables alongside fresh tofu matar or chicken tandoori.
Picture in your mind a buffet. You're probably not thinking of locally grown vegetables and homemade soups, but that's exactly what you'll find at Fresh Choice. Much of what you'll find is culled from Fresh Choice's very own 100+ acre farm, whose owners pride themselves on growing sustainable vegetables and crunchy salad crutons.

Opened in 1979, Saturn Cafe blends traditional American diner dishes with a contemporary, forward-looking focus on social and environmental responsibility. The café puts a vegetarian and vegan spin on classic eats, including cholesterol-free veggie burgers and french fries cooked in trans fat-free oils. Whenever possible, Saturn Cafe culls organic ingredients from local farmers, instead of importing them from, say, Saturn.
