Buena Park Bicycles Co. operates two locations—Fullerton Bicycles and Buena Park Bicycles—and that still isn't enough floor space to showcase all of their bikes. Their ample stock canvasses almost every inch of the show-room floor, expanding to the walls and hanging from the ceiling amid bike gear, accessories, and apparel from renowned brand names including Specialized, Giant, Fuji, Bell, and Nike. The knowledgeable staff helps customers choose from road cycles, dirt bikes, or BMX rides, throwing out recommendations about which bike has the best shocks and which won't turn back into a unicycle at midnight. Also accommodating patrons who have already been paired with a two-wheeled steed, the certified maintenance professionals keep bikes rolling with expert tune-ups and free estimates for repairs.
From this high up, the world seems small and compact, framing the ocean, mountains, and desert in the same field of vision. Though Mt. Baldy's soaring peaks seem to shrink the globe to the size of a globe, they also grant access to nature's majesty throughout the year. Four chairlifts gently propel skiers through the San Gabriel Mountains over the trails and 800 acres of skiable earth ranging from gentle slopes to natural quarter pipes. In the warmer months, hiking trails blaze through mountainsides, affording glimpses of historical mining facilities and natural wonders, such as canyons, fauna such as bighorn sheep, and Mother Nature's secret collection of acre-long coffee spoons.
Enjoy The Mountain wants others to explore the beautiful terrain surrounding Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake?and provides the equipment to help them do so. The company organizes Jeep, mountain-bike, ATV, and Quad rentals and tours, and always includes extras such as transportation to and from desired trails, fuel, and comprehensive safety training. Every rental also comes with a map of the area and suggested routes to ensure guests get the most out of their adventure.
West Coast Boot Camp's Adrian Pietrariu is at his best during the heat of athletic competition. Not content with dominating opponents during taekwondo matches, Adrian assembled a team of seasoned instructors that now forms the core of WCBC’s training staff. Their signature boot camp meets in places such as beaches and parking lots to get hearts pumping and calories burning. Adrian also helps individuals unlock inner combatants with martial-arts classes, achieve their athletic aspirations with one-on-one coaching, and learn the difference between a basketball and an overripe cantaloupe with sport-specific training.
The instructors at California Survival School impart decades of wilderness-survival know-how during outdoor, hands-on courses. Participants prepare themselves to live self sufficiently off the land using both modern and primitive techniques, which can come in handy when lost in the woods or the year 1412. During the Core Survival Skills Adventure Clinic, up to 30 students spend five hours learning to create fire using only sticks, build shelters with natural materials, purify water, and feed themselves off the land. The Ancient Artisans Workshop teaches novices how to fashion crude implements from scratch with materials found in nature, and how to use them while out in the wilderness. California Survival School also offers team-building workshops and private events.
Cabins4Less creates homes away from home on the edge of Big Bear Lake. Their lakefront suites set the mood for adventure with rustic wood interiors and private decks, but maintain a sense of comfort by providing pillow top mattresses and kitchenettes. That dual approach to camping ensures that guests get to experience the beauty of the outdoors without its inconveniences.
Not content merely to provide lodging, Cabins4Less keeps its guests busy during daytime by renting out kayaks, which are free and pet-friendly, along with bikes and fishing poles. Thusly equipped, visitors can stroll or roll through the mountains or set out from the adjacent marina to paddle around the lake or catch some fish. A local bowling alley and restaurants make the nearby village a good place to wile away the time after friendly aliens flick off the sun's light switch.
