When Brian McInerney reflects on the humble beginnings of Wheel Fun Rentals, Inc., he points to his childhood passion for bikes. "As far back as I can remember, I had a real love affair with bicycles," he recalls. During a trip to Italy in 1987, Brian's affinity for cycling blossomed into a full-fledged obsession when he spotted locals' transporter of choice, the surrey. Inspired, he began importing the Italian four-wheelers to a rental business in the U.S. that eventually expanded into Wheel Fun Rentals, now a nationwide web of shops that also loans out bikes, electric cars and mopeds, and man-powered watercraft. Adventuresome athletes can also compete in activities such as surrey scavenger hunts and blindfold obstacle courses navigated via shouted instructions from a seeing teammate or exceptionally long rounds of trial and error.
Though Dan Campos has been playing baseball and other sports most of his life, after high school he knew he could still be in better shape. After losing 65 pounds, he decided to enter a natural-bodybuilding competition and fell in love with the sport. Today he’s a professional bodybuilder and spends his downtime training others at Dan Campos Fitness. While bodybuilding is his focus, Campos's training methods range from individual training—onsite or in-home—to group boot-camp classes. He even provides online nutritional counseling, which includes tips for eating healthy and downloadable restraining orders against cake itself. Campos's flexible approach has created some loyal clients, including one whom he helped to lose 200 pounds over two years.
Romeo’s Window Tinting & Custom Upholstery was founded in 2005 by a father and son team who back their latest venture with 30 years of experience racked up in custom upholstery. The staff creates custom seat covers, headliners, and auto tops that breathe fresh new life into the cosmetic makeup of the car. Additionally, to minimize interior temperatures, protect drivers from solar glares, and grant dashboard hula dancers some privacy, techs outfit windows with SunTek window films. These tinted windows also protect the upholstery from falling victim to sun damage—which makes it easy to see why the custom artists may feel an extra fondness towards the window films.
The showroom at Vespa of Philadelphia is a scooter enthusiast's dream. Classic and modern Vespa models sit alongside Piaggio scooters and motorbikes. Some are for rent. Some are for sale. Some just rolled in to visit their friends. The friendly staffers help guests select the right model, though not before they pour some complimentary espresso. As further evidence of their scooter knowledge, Vespa of Philadelphia's team also runs a Vespa- and Piaggo- certified service center. Here, techs change oil, make repairs, and prep scooters for winter.
STSC Transportation Services’ unformed drivers pilot spacious buses that carry passengers from Philadelphia to New York City and back. During these non-stop trips––which depart both cities roughly every hour from early morning until evening––passengers can kick back in their seats, take a nap, chew the scenery through tinted windows, or finally finish reading their VCR’s user manual. Best of all, they'll ride in comfort knowing that STSC Transportation Services follows strict guidelines enforced by the Department of Transportation to ensure passengers enjoy as safe a trip as possible.
Specializing in automotive window tinting, the techs at 215 Motoring LLC hand-cut film they purchase directly from the manufacture before smoothing it over glass for an exact fit with no bubbles. They do this not only to sleeken appearances, but also because window tinting keeps the vehicle cooler, adds privacy, and prevents shattering glass in the event of an accident. Besides car windows, they also tint residential and business glass and can give autos new looks with 3M Scotchprint Wrap Film that comes in gloss, matte, brushed metal, and more.
