Even if the licensed staffers at Simply Ink Tattoo didn’t apply your tattoo originally, they have no problem touching it up. This isn’t to say they don’t create original tattoos, though. Each artist combines specialization with versatility, delivering stunning ink in his or her chosen field or across traditional categories including black-and-grey, color, and lettered tattoos. They also dig collaboration, working with customers to design all-new imagery or bring to life pre-existing sketches and ideas.

Karen Laing has followed her love for beautification down many paths, including attending school for aesthetician studies, acting as both beauty queen and pageant judge, and her current profession as a permanent-makeup artist. She meticulously draws on individual eyebrow strokes or enhances peepers with permanent eyeliner with the experience that comes not only from her extensive training, but also from having permanent makeup herself. In addition to makeup, Karen also individually bonds synthetic eyelashes to natural ones to create more lush and dramatic blinks, and treats signs of aging with wrinkle-reduction, sunspot-reduction, and other anti-aging therapies.

At Tattooed Mom, lollipops, plastic rings, temporary tattoos and other child-like prizes are strewn across the bar and tables, making it clear that this South Street hotspot wants its customers to let go and have fun. The space itself says just as much, with vibrant murals adorning the front entrance and an eclectic mix of stools, sofas and pool tables littering the floorspace. Along with a rotating selection of local and regional draft beers, the drink menu features playfully suggestive cocktails like the Honey Amor, a concoction of Bulleit bourbon, locally sourced honey and amaro herbal liqueur. Hungry patrons can munch on chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and other standard bar food, as well as unique options like a veggie corn dog on a stick. Specials, including $1 tacos on Tuesdays and fifty-cent pierogies on Thursdays, appeal to a budget-conscious crowd.

Today, she employs seven years of micropigmentation experience and has worked with all kinds of skin types and ethnicities to create natural-looking eyebrows, lip color, and eyeliner, as well as camouflage scars, birthmarks, and outdated SAT cheat sheets. Mandy's teammate, Theresa Weston, draws upon her three years of micropigmentation experience and her background as a makeup artist working with industry leaders such as Clinique, Bare Escentuals, and Origins.

Unlike most salons, Wynnewood Salon is not in the business of styling hair. Instead, board-certified practitioner Emily Jones uses electrolysis to rid the skin of unwanted strands. She administers treatments to areas across the body—the hairline, chest, legs, hands, toes—and to patients with all skin types and hair colors.
