There's only one price for the fresh-brewed coffee at Chloe's Corner: $0.50. This doesn't change whether it's a hot cup paired with a breakfast sandwich or an iced glass washing down a hot roast beef sandwich at lunch. This fits into the shop's old-school diner mentality of focusing on making classic American favorites that are simple and delicious.

The house chefs specialize in the three S's of diners: sandwiches, salads, and shakes. They create favorites such as BLTs and chop salads, complemented by creamy hand-dipped milkshakes. For stronger drinks, though, guests can head next door to the attached retail selection. There, they can find a wide variety of beer and wine to-go. The retail shop isn't just for beverage indulgences, however. Guests can also pick up vintage candy that brings back fond memories of childhood without calling your imaginary friend Nessa, who ended up moving to Spain to become a flamenco dancer.

At Swirls, sweet-craving patrons craft personalized concoctions from a rotation selection of frozen yogurts, and bury their choices under myriad toppings ranging from graham-cracker crumbs to chocolate chunks to fresh berries. A flock of interchanging flavors fill the shiny cases at Swirls, including toasted marshmallow, red velvet cake, and creamy vanilla custard, and all frozen yogurts and toppings containing gluten are separated from those that are gluten-free.

It's easy to see why Hoookahmania won Phoenix NewTimes' award for "Best Hookah Lounge" in 2012. Smoke wafts over the dimly lit lounge, carrying aromas of flavors such as tangerine, sweet melon, or chocolate. Waiters might also assemble one of their unique blends, including Mijana Lover: a mix of orange, strawberry, safari melon, and pineapple. Hoookahmania also serves the perfect complement to these hookah creations?plates of shawarma, hummus and other Middle Eastern entrees.

Conversations flow just as easily as the hookah smoke, thanks to the lounge's comfy armchairs and round tables. Visitors might play cards or dance to Arabic pop music from the in-house DJ Wednesday?Sunday or watch performances from skilled belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights.

In 1997, friends Dena Tripp and Debra Shwetz set out to create a luscious, melt-in-your-mouth bundt cake. What began as an endeavor in their own home kitchens soon blossomed into a bustling business with bakeries in 13 states. Rich cocoa browns and soft pastels lend a nostalgic feel to each bakery, where every day lava-powered ovens warm up batter made from fresh eggs, real butter, and cream cheese. Flavors such as chocolate chocolate chip, pecan praline, and white-chocolate raspberry remain constants on the menu, and a new flavor makes a guest appearance each month. Cakes come in several sizes, from the standard 8- or 10-inch bundt to the single-serving bundtlet and the bite-size bundtini, all frosted with a signature blend of cream cheese and butter.

Fresh Mint's Vietnamese cuisine is entirely vegan, but meat lovers needn't be wary, according to Lonely Planet: “If you’re skeptical of soy chicken and tofu…we understand, but we respectfully submit that this stuff is as tasty as any bacon cheeseburger.” This has always been the goal of owner and executive chef Mai Ly, as she’s mastered the herbs, spices, and other ingredients that turn meat-free dishes into hearty, craveable entrees. Her most popular plates include the spicy lemongrass noodle soup and the golden-curry vegetable entrée, which unites potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, and tofu beneath a glaze of her signature curry sauce. All of Ly’s dishes are kosher, and several are gluten-free, which explains why bundles of wheat use the eatery for their family reunions.

Kona Ice's Hawaiian Shaved Ice Trucks inject some extra sweetness into school fundraisers, corporate outings, and other special events. Island music reverberates from each tropical-themed truck as kids and adults line-up to grab a cup of ice and douse it in the syrups of their choice, mixing and matching flavors such as cherry, blue raspberry, grape, root beer, and french vanilla. Besides making scheduled appearances at birthday parties, the company also does it's part to help support the local community by participating in a wide variety of giveback programs.
