Fibo Kids Art Academy’s instructors teach kids aged 4–18 the finer points of art with the Fibonacci method, crafting individual curricula within a peer setting, bolstered by doses of art history. They tailor the lessons to each student's interests, strengths, and weaknesses, placing kids in small groups for creative interaction with their peers.
To build a foundation for their skills, the instructors engage youngsters in in-depth art-history lessons that expose them to the paintings, drawings, and techniques of both past and current masters from movements such as impressionism and cubism. In addition to year-round afterschool classes, the academy offers one-week intensive summer camps that cover topics such as fashion design, anime and cartooning, and drawing on a sibling's face while he or she sleeps.
Art Steps' five-tiered educational program cultivates creative flowering with lessons that carefully build from foundational skills to full-fledged mastery. Introductory classes assess initial ability before pupils move on to basic drawing and painting lessons that deliver a strong understanding of line, color, and tone. Once students master art techniques and can make a flat image look 3D, oil lessons give advanced students the opportunity to learn trickier painting techniques and study the masters. Independent study allows ambitious students to build their portfolio and prep for applications to art school.

Whether in social groups or private sessions, students can dance seven days a week with a schedule of classes that range from the Latin-inspired salsa and cha cha to the more homegrown country line dancing and West Coast Swing. Wedding dance lessons help bride and groom glide across the floor or bowling lane during their first dance, while youth classes for dancers ages four and up impart basic ballroom and Latin dance techniques along with rhythm and posture. For a more sweat-inducing workout, Zumba fitness classes blend the dance styles taught in Latin lessons with energetic music.
Ben Chen has experienced his share of success in his nearly 30-year photography career?his work has been published in such publications as Cosmopolitan, The Los Angeles Times, and ESPN Magazine, and he has lent his expertise to some of the nation's largest corporations, including Procter & Gamble and The American Red Cross. In 2006, the photographer began to notice that more and more novices were purchasing complex DSLR cameras, and that gave him an idea. Chen decided to share his wealth of knowledge with aspiring photographers by creating the 4-Hour Newbie Photography Boot Camp, which teaches students how to shoot manually with their DSLRs and create artistic, professional-quality photos. Since then, more than 5,000 students in 20 cities throughout the country have benefited from these classes. In 2013, he acquiesced to student demand and created Part II of the class, which goes beyond photography basics by diving into post-production techniques. Nowadays, students can take both Part I and Part II in the same day, helping them go from student to master in less time than most action-movie montages.
