Education and safety are at the core of Panhandle Gunslingers. Resident gunsmith BJ Franklin keeps firearms operating properly, while instructors teach men and women the finer points of gun safety. In the pro shop, experts help them select handguns, long guns, and accessories. And to further promote shooting sports, the staff spends time helping to rescue and find new homes for vizsla hunting dogs, connecting people with representatives at VCA Rescue.
Multiple outdoor ranges accommodate Patriot Outdoors' firearms classes, which are designed for all skill levels. They also sell bows, firearms, and gear and accessories. The facility's open skies and desert landscapes also serve as the backdrop for paintball fields, including two speedball fields and one 4-acre field with various obstacles. For something different, an indoor rock-climbing gym presents members with areas designated for top-rope climbing and bouldering. Different routes challenge beginner, intermediate, and advanced climbers.

Owner James Fortner and his certified staff at Elite Lubbock Firearms Training don't just want students to pass the exam that qualifies you to apply for a concealed-handgun license, they want pupils to do so with flying colors. With the goal of producing responsible gun owners, they emphasize safety during concealed-handgun classes. They also teach an NRA pistol class for students less familiar with handguns. And though the subject matter may be serious, each class is infused with a dose of lightheartedness, as the experienced team aims to keep students' attention with an upbeat, fun atmosphere.
