Each of Tangerine Salons' four locations operate under a charitable ethos and the nature-based tenants of Aveda. Aveda's environmentally conscious, naturally derived products infuse all of Tangerine's salon services. Seven tiers of hairstylists—ranging from Protégé I to Master III—handle the hairstyling duties by snipping, highlighting, and conditioning locks. At the Coppell and Cedar Hill locations, the staff dedicates space to an array of spa services, including massages, facial treatments, mani-pedis, and back facials that help eliminate crow's feet on people with eyes in the back of their heads.
Jennifer Kunkle focuses on two specialties: tuning up athletes' bodies and being a mom. She enjoys her career as a massage therapist and owner of Plano Clinical & Sports Massage because it leaves her time for both therapy and motherhood. "I don't look at it as a job, but more like a way I can help people," she says.
That's exactly what she does, removing tension and promoting healing with a combination of her hands, bamboo sticks, and hot stones. Whichever tool she uses, she customizes the amount of pressure to her client's comfort level. She reports that many of her visitors are surprised by how much pressure she can deliver, since she's only five feet tall. "It is commonly thought that a person has to be big to give deep massages, but that just isn't true," she says, presumably to point out that anyone could have robot hands.

After 13 years of working in the health-care industry, licensed massage therapist Jean E. Besse realized that although she had a successful career, she had very little time to care for herself. Over the years, she had put on more than 30 pounds of excess weight thanks to a steady diet of fast food and soda. Then a fellow massage therapist pointed her to AdvoCare's line of energy drinks and bars. Besse lost 40 pounds.
She now shares her favorite products with others and drop-kicks every can of soda she sees. In addition to helping people lose weight, she helps ease their aches and pains through massage therapy at Relax Your Body -Shop.
Throughout the week, the body is pummeled by stress at the hands of work, family, and the hype man that follows you everywhere. Thank goodness for Massage City. This relaxation oasis offers massages in a variety of modalities, all customized to the needs of the individual. Clients can opt for Swedish strokes, which promote circulation; soothing deep-tissue techniques; or the foam-finger kneading of a sports massage. Aestheticians are also on hand for skincare needs, such as facials and microdermabrasion treatments.
Luxury Sweet Escape Spa was founded by a licensed aesthetician and a licensed massage therapist. Chris and Julie combined their powers to carve out a space where folks can spruce up with beauty treatments or wind down with spa services. The facials include a little of both; they begin with a skin analysis and continue with a deep cleansing, extractions, and choice of aroma—pick from peppermint, cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla, or citrus. The signature massages also include a choice of aroma, and incorporate techniques such as Lomi Lomi, deep-tissue, trigger-point, and Thai table massage to make you as loose and relaxed as a stick-figure in a spy movie. Specialty add-ons, including hot lava shells or a toffee body salt scrub, only augment the indulgence.
Aesthetician Tereza cleans out dirty pores with her specialized facials and microdermabrasion treatments at Belissima In Rio. She even has a special teen facial that diminishes stubborn acne and the tendency for mouths to blurt out “LOL” at the dinner table. From the neck down, Tereza tackles knotted muscles during massage sessions, which feature add-ons such as aromatherapy or paraffin wax.
