For more than 15 years, Karate America Neenah has worked to teach students self-defense skills and strengthen natural-born talents, including flexibility and coordination. In addition to karate, instructors teach adults krav maga, the official self-defense system of the Israeli Defense Forces. MMAXOUT classes use MMA moves and strength and conditioning drills to help students stay in shape. Kids' martial arts classes are also offered, helping teach discipline and physical conditioning during confidence-building exercises.

Developing self-defense skills might be the most-obvious outcome of training at Champions Martial Arts, but it's not the only one. Parents of children enrolled in the school's program say it also boosts kids' confidence levels, social skills, and academic performances. These benefits aren't limited to children, however; teenagers and adults also can achieve fitness goals and improve discipline during their own age-appropriate classes.

Q&A with Ron Achenbach, Chief Instructor

Describe a time your services really changed a client's life for the better.

We have worked with hundreds of children, teaching them how to believe in themselves and hold themselves to a higher standard.

How is your approach different than that of other professionals in your field?

We focus on developing leadership skills in kids and adults. We use martial arts as the tool to help us achieve those results.

What's one tip for first-time customers that will make them feel like regulars?

Your child will start out with a private lesson. During this lesson, we prepare them for taking their first class, give them some self-discipline homework, and talk to them about when they CAN and CAN'T use their karate.

Signing up for a class at Karate America is like taking the first steps in a long, fruitful journey. The instructors?who have more black belts than even the most fashionable country music stars?start teaching students as young as 4 years old in the Little Ninjas program. Up next is the Junior Basic class, where kids begin to master essential skills like discipline and focus. The most committed students can join the black-belt team and then move on to the masters team upon earning their belts. To accommodate everyone who wants to learn self-defense techniques, the instructors also teach adult classes.

A room full of three-year-olds kicking and yelling is no cause for alarm at Karate America DeForest. The youngsters are learning the basics of karate?and building respect and self-confidence?in the KinderKickers class. As students grow, the classes grow with them, imparting knowledge of self-defense moves such as kicking and hand techniques, but most of all, respect. Teen, adults, and families have their own karate classes and can also participate in Cardio Kickboxing, Toning and Zumba classes.
