Founder and owner Cemhan Biricik has fashion and photography in his blood. His parents, both designers, moved him from Istanbul to Paris at the age of 4, eventually settling in the United States. Here in the U.S. is where he fell in love with photography, and photography loves him back, judging from the more than 15 awards Cemhan has won from National Geographic, Sony, and the International Loupe.
In his daily client work, Cemhan's photography strives to capture the beauty in every day life. His subjects range from the abstract and wildlife to high fashion and weddings, and he's snapped shots of celebrities such as Miss Pennsylvania and Cesar Conde of Univision.
Cemhan's company, Biricik Media, goes beyond photography to provide videography services that capture media for magazines, ad campaigns, and special events. In addition, the company has acquired talented, specialized photographers for specific needs such as bridal showers or portraits of your hair-doll collection.
Husband and wife team Sheila and Robert Hurth co-own Tiffany Photographic Studio, helming a full service staff of 10. Together, they distill three-dimensional beauty into contemporary images that pop before plain studio backdrops or vivid sets. With four decades of experience under their shutter fingers, the Hurths supervise charmingly posed family portraits, adorable shots of toddlers and infants amid whimsical props, and event photos snapped on location at weddings or bar mitzvahs. Their studio uses state of the art digital technology, retouching and printing photographs in-house for a quick postsession turnaround. When not standing behind the camera, the Hurths teach photo seminars in Fort Lauderdale and the Carolinas and spend their free time authoring tutorial books and videos on boudoir photography, portraiture, and how to get a close-up shot of a black hole.
The skilled soul capturers at Elegant Occasions will coax out dormant smiles and smoldering eye contact from customers with a 30- to 45-minute in-studio session. Your skilled photographer will coax out the playful grin that attests to your hilarious onstage antics for a fun headshot or enhance the poetic rhythm of your unpublished novel with a soulful author photo. After you do your best tiger impression before the lens, the snazzy snap shots are posted on a personal website, where you can conveniently view the images before hammering them to the neighbor’s door like the Ninety-Five Theses. Additionally, a professionally mounted 11”x14” portrait immortalizes mugs while providing evidence of retina ownership. Call to schedule a session before staring admiringly at your likeness taped directly to the refrigerator.
Sugar and Spice owners Chelsey and Angela haven't forgotten the fear that consumed them when they first bared all in front of a foggy camera lens. This awareness is what makes them the ideal pair to helm a boudoir photography studio, which pairs its solo shoots with sessions incorporating couples, pinups, and pregnant subjects. By drawing from their past experience, all-female staff members work to ease subjects' fears as they highlight their best features, no matter what size, shape, or kind of droid they might be. Since the studio doesn't dabble in wedding shoots or children's photography, Sugar and Spice is able to pour all of its resources into its boudoir photography, which is reflected by its 20 different sets, more than 200 pairs of thigh-highs and stockings, and hundreds of outfits in sizes 0–22.
If clients start to get lost in piles of lingerie, the team has plenty of ideas and ready-made looks to choose from, such as the girl next door in jeans and a T-shirt or the more involved bikini-clad George Washington crossing the Delaware. Touting itself as the only stateside boudoir studio to offer complimentary clip-in hair extensions, Sugar and Spice also flaunts its beauty retouching services, which are included with every session.
