It can be difficult to track where your produce is coming from when it’s often exchanged between far-flung middlemen and carried inside food trucks used to transport commando teams. The Urban Farmer attempts to simplify that supply chain for Broward Country, connecting eaters to the land and helping to expand the slow-food movement with an urban farm and education center. More than 10,000 veggie plants stretch upwards from their vertical hydroponic system, waiting to be displayed to visitors and sold at a monthly Green Market. The [CSA program] http://gr.pn/IPqYVe) blends Urban Farmer produce with crops from trusted Florida farms, with all produce clearly identified so recipients know exactly where their food comes from. The Urban Farmer also sells products such as Earthbox and vertical gardening kits that facilitate backyard gardening and encourage home farmers to learn their tomatoes’ favorite bedtime stories.

You can't get a sandwich in under 60 seconds at Munch & Chat. That's because the staff want their café to be the opposite of fast food, both in the healthiness of their dishes and the mentality of guests walking through the doors. They don't prepare anything before it's ordered, ensuring that each handmade prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich, lamb burger, and chicken empanada is fresh and flavorful. While they toss salads with tuna, black olives, and green peppers or blend up lattes, they encourage guests to take a seat, enjoy the company of others, and browse the pastry selection. The bakers craft both American sweets—such as sugar-free cheesecake and bald eagles made out of fondant—as well as Argentinean specialties such as passionfruit mousse and milhojas, a puff pastry filled with dulce de leche.
Direct From Philly’s grillmasters sear each cheesesteak to order using a half pound of chopped steak or chicken, onions, and american, swiss, provolone, or Cheez Whiz. Carved from marinated loin tails shipped directly from Philly, the steak nestles atop a 9-inch Amoroso's roll to construct a symphony of flavors as typically Philadelphian as the Liberty Bell or Ben Franklin’s Liberty Bell–shaped wig. The quick-stop eatery builds upon its cheesesteak origins with a selection of signature sandwiches, which introduce chopped steak or chicken to inventive blends of toppings. A jumble of grilled onions, roasted garlic, and pepper relish fill the Touch Tone’s pillowy bun, while the barbecue bacon philly recalls summertime with a mixture of green peppers, bacon, and barbecue sauce.

After the judges have declared the winners, the festival kicks into after-party mode with live music from rock fiends Classic Rock Therapy, previews of Star Motorcycle's sweet new bikes, and, of course, more drinks and eats. A portion of the day's proceeds will benefit the nonprofit organization People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership, so you can leave feeling good about more than just your expanded palate.
To Chef Robbie E., baking a tasty cake is all about attention detail and quality ingredients. The Le Cordon Bleu alumnus and her team craft custom decorated cakes with finite decorative attention. The result are modern, cleanly designed creations culled from organic flavors and spices, unbleached flour and cream. Gluten- and egg-free cakes can be made upon request.
