Symphony in Ponte Vedra Beach

This historical 1920s movie palace—one of just a handful left in Florida—was the site of a famous Elvis Presley performance. In 1956, local judge Marion Gooding sat through the show to ensure the teen heartthrob’s moves didn’t get too suggestive. Nowadays, the authorities don’t police the gyrations of the musicians, comedians, actors, and dancers who appear among its vaulted ceilings and Moorish decor.
