At Mattress Closeout Center, the staff uses negotiation skills to continuously replenish a diverse inventory of brand-name mattresses—many of them culled from factory overstocks, liquidations, last-year models, and overruns. While grazing through one of the brand-name liquidation center's four locations, guests can sip a cup of complimentary Starbucks coffee or bottle of Coca Cola and research consumer reviews and retail prices on the store's iPad. Mattress Closeout Center also provides exact lists of inventory and pricing online, with a comparison of the store's discount prices beside the normal retail prices. The store's well-established rapport is also backed by myriad testimonials from satisfied sleepers and bounce-happy trampoline enthusiasts.
Since 2006, the staff at Fusion Fitness Center has fostered a welcoming space for their members to come and find fitness, challenging and encouraging them along the way. Rows of elite Precor cardio machines fill the floor of the main room, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, and bikes. Tucked around the corner in the group fitness room, trainers challenge members with 45-minute F.I.T.—functional interval training—classes, where exercisers toss medicine balls, swing kettlebells and heavy ropes, and stretch TRX suspension bands until they cry uncle. The trainers limit F.I.T. classes to six people so they can dole out ample individual attention.
The staff also helps members hone in on individual fitness goals, such as losing weight or running a marathon, during personal-training sessions. To fuel sweat sessions, staffers mix up smoothies filled with nourishing ingredients to help bodies recover or add resistance to tongue-curls.

Cranbrook Art Museum opened its current Eliel Saarinen-designed building in 1942. Today, its collection features original exhibitions and educational programming on modern and contemporary architecture, art, crafts, and design. A recent $22 million renovation added a Collections Wing, making their rich collection accessible to all visitors.
Permanent mainstay: Tours of the museum's Collections Wing, with more than 6,000 items by artists such as Eames, Knoll, and Saarinen, are all housed in a vault designed to make the collection visible and accessible.
Don't miss: The curator's talks give more in-depth detail about current exhibitions.
Hands-on experiments: In the outdoor sculpture treasure hunt, families seek up to 18 sculptures on the grounds, while learning more about the artists, other works, and which pieces make the best nesting areas for birds.
Future exhibitions: Laura Kalman: Coveted Objects; Theater of the Mind; The Cranbrook Hall of Wonders: Artworks, Objects, and Natural Curiosities; Iris Eichenberg: Bend; MR. MDWST - A REAL GOOD TIME by BEVERLY FRESH; and Alloyed Visions: The Jewelry of Harry Bertoia
The building: a meticulously restored structure designed in 1942 by Eliel Saarinen
While you?re in the neighborhood: Nearby on the Cranbrook campus is Saarinen House, the art deco masterwork of renowned architect Eliel Saarinen. The house served as his residence as Cranbrook Academy of Art's first president and has been restored with its original furnishings.
Foster the next generation of artists: at monthly Drop-In Art Sundays, where children explore the kids' gallery and create their own masterpiece inspired by featured artists
Magdalena Cap's training as an aesthetician began more than 33 years ago in Czechoslovakia, where she studied dermatology and cosmetology. Three years later, the licensed aesthetician opened her own spa, where she has continued providing European-style facials and spa services for the ensuing three decades. Magdalena is joined by a loyal staff of licensed cosmetologists, massage therapists, nail technicians, and electrolysis experts, many of whom have worked with her for more than 10 years. The staff undergoes continuing education in an effort to ensure that all of their facials, peels, and rejuvenating treatments take advantage of the most advanced techniques. Like a park ranger building a nest, the team also draws on a wide range of natural ingredients including pumpkin and seaweed.
