After his first time riding a Segway, 11-year-old Gregg Jantz Jr. was hooked. There weren’t Segway tours in his hometown of Edmonds, so he and his father went to the company’s headquarters in New Hampshire to learn more about the self-balancing transporters. They were excited about what they learned there, leading to the creation of Segway of Edmonds.
Today, visitors can take 90-minute tours of Puget Sound. By day, the tours take a historical angle, and educate groups about Olympic Beach and the mills that used to sit along the coast. Sunset tours create beautiful photo ops, and can be arranged to end with dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants. All tours begin with a 30-minute orientation session, and guides stop occasionally to take photos of groups and make sure no one has fused to their Segway. Visitors can also rent Segways for self-guided tours.
With more than two decades of experience in refractive vision-correcting surgeries and eye-health services, Dr. Stephen G. Phillips has cleared blurry sight from patients of all professions in Seattle. Surgeons, architects, teachers, attorneys, and fellow ophthalmologists have entrusted their eyes to Dr. Phillips's steady hands and arsenal of technologies. OPD-Scans chart the entire topography of the eye, giving the doctor a high-resolution display of 1,440 points of measurement, while a refractive power analyzer captures the subtle nuances of the front of the eye without revealing the patients' most-viewed television channels.
Myriad sets of eyes see their tasks more thanks to Dr. Joseph King, who has performed more than 90,000 refractive surgeries in his 15-year career. He and the other LASIK specialists at King LASIK sharpen patients' vision with conventional and custom procedures, as well as PRK surgeries. Dr. King himself underwent LASIK eye surgery in 2000 to accommodate his active lifestyle." Just 15 minutes after the procedure, I could read the computer screen at the office,? he recalls. ?I experienced several hours of watery, sensitive eyes, but after sleeping for a few hours, I awakened and I could read the digital clock on the radio across the room."
Over the years, the expert vision gurus at Suburban Opticians, including co-owners Pamela and Melissa, have outfitted clients with lenses and more than 2,000 frames by designers such as Adidas, Ray-Ban, Silhouette, Versace, and Juicy Couture. An onsite optical lab enables the team to assemble individualized frames with single-vision lenses or bifocals. Taking an active role in the community, Suburban Opticians donates to several nonprofit organizations such as Shared Vision International, Taylor Madison Eyewear, and Toms.
Framed prints of flowers hang on dark, burgundy walls, illuminated by light cast from a curved, modern floor lamp. Between them, leather couches and chairs sit waiting to cradle visitors with their wraparound backs and arms. Cream carpeting gives way to tiled flooring as visitors make their way from the waiting area to treatment rooms?and while they walk, they follow in the footsteps of elite clients that include Ravi Bansal, the 2009 Miss Universe Canada contestant.
