  • Colwood National Golf Club
Cleaved between the wildlife-rich waterways of the Columbia and Whitaker sloughs, Colwood National Golf Club’s 18-hole course unfurls across 6,158 yards of scenic parkland terrain. Throughout the round, forgiving fairways provide ample landing space for flush drives and displaced blimps, providing a slight advantage to players with exceptional length off the tee. Water hazards impede players’ passage on multiple holes including the par 5 fifth, the course’s most difficult hole, where an oval-shaped pond guards the left side of a dramatic dogleg left. The par 72 course is equipped with advanced draining systems to keep the grassy monolith in pristine playing condition year-round. Divot-tearing duos take in the course’s tall trees, immaculate greenery, and heist-planning waterfowl astride a nimble golf cart, which spins its wheels in applause when players sink stunning bogey putts.

  • American Guitar Academy
Each of the guitar coaches at American Guitar Academy are certified in the school’s signature teaching method. Developed over 25 years, this house-honed instruction technique incorporates scientific research to help fingers learn to shred frets up to eight times faster than alternative methods. During private half-hour lessons, instructors guide budding rock stars aged 4 years and up through the basics of strumming chords and seamlessly stitching together riffs. These comprehensive lessons on classical, electric, or acoustic guitars are offered once a week with a live instructor or online and guarantee that students will be playing their favorite music within six months of training. Students may begin lessons without owning a guitar, but are encouraged to gain access to one quickly for mastering scales and the ability to solo with their teeth.

  • The Academy Theater
The Academy Theater is a piece of Portland history. Opened in 1948, the original Academy was the city’s first ever silver screen. The theater fell into dereliction and disrepair until it was restored to its former glory in 2006 in a style true to the original. Vintage photographs from the very first opening night at the Academy adorn the walls. The theater features three auditoriums with Dolby sound, state of the art projection technology, and comfortable reclining seating. The Academy is also wheelchair accessible and has closed-caption and listening device capabilities for the hearing impaired. The nearby cafes, pizzerias, and sushi restaurants make the Academy Theater the perfect place for a date night.
