Barking orders for more than 20 years, The Sergeant's Program's head sergeant Chuck Dyson and his dedicated troop of more than 50 sergeants and personal trainers transform figures with military-style fitness sessions. The program provides a knowledgeable instructor to lead recruits through cardio, core, flexibility, stabilization, and resistance training while creating camaraderie amongst fellow fitness platooners. Though each day is fueled with running drills and calisthenics, Mondays and Fridays will be focused on increasing lower body and flank strength and Tuesdays and Thursdays will be geared toward upper body workouts. Cardio-intensive Wednesdays are solely dedicated to getting the heart pumping, sweat streaming, and reshaping rumps flattened by years in stagecoach-driver seats. Although the sergeants utilize a tough-love approach to push clients to their fullest fitness factor, the atmosphere is kept personable by their injections of light-hearted humor and giggling quartets of chipmunks.
At Village Yoga, Freddy Margolis has amassed an impressive team of experienced instructors, some of whom have impressive backgrounds in fields such as competitive dance and chinese medicine. These specialists aim to help students foster holistic wellness with a variety of yoga classes at both of their spacious studios. Their class styles range from flowing Vinyasa and gentle stretches to high-intensity Zumba and power yoga, and teacher training is also available.
Clients can rent either studio to host yoga parties that celebrate birthdays, engagements, or successful human-Jenga games. An instructor will be on hand to guide partygoers through routines, and the space comes equipped with yoga mats, bolsters, and music.
My Gym's Parents' Night Out program gives mothers, fathers, guardians, and packs of wolves a break from the 24/8 task of raising children and allows them a well-deserved night out on the town. While the grown-ups hit the golf alleys and karaoke rodeos of the greater Washington DC area, My Gym's staff of trained fitness and childcare experts keep young'uns mentally active and physically occupied. Kids will flex social muscles, exercise emotional intelligence, and bench-press cognitive processes. The three hours of fun include pizza, a movie, games, arts and crafts, story time, and a brief overview of how loop quantum gravity theory doesn't require string theory's multiple dimensions of space-time.
