Whether it's your first or your 100th time going paintballing, MSG Paintball Field can handle your level of expertise. There are multiple outdoor fields on which groups can play anything from a simple game of Capture the Flag to more advanced strategic missions. Referees are on hand to share the rules of play and show people how to use the equipment, which includes both beginner and advanced markers, as well as goggles and full-face masks. The eco-friendly paintballs are 100% biodegradable, which makes games a lot more fun than just slinging spoonfuls of wheatgrass at opponents.
Baseball is alive all year-round at All Star Indoor Batting Range Baseball & Softball Academy. Started in 1991 by three baseball fans—Kevin and Brian Gilroy and Frank Rizzo—the facility gives players the chance to practice no matter how many inches of snow or packs of rabid umpires are flurrying outside. The 15,000-square-foot sports haven boasts seven tunnel cages for practicing all aspects of the game. Other elements, such as stadium benches and 7,000 square feet of artificial turf, give the academy the feel of an indoor diamond. To help players take their skills to the next level, the academy also offers private and semiprivate lessons, and maintains a pro shop stocked with essential gear.

Congers Bike Shop has been pairing its clients with new and used bicycles for more than 30 years. The shop’s longevity is partially due to a staff of experts that knows its fleet of bikes inside and out, and considers the age and skill level of customers before picking out bikes, accessories, and racks. So locals and visitors alike can explore the area’s state parks, lakes, and UFO-landing sites, they also lend out bikes and helmets to rent for full-day adventures.
Greenwood Trails Camp?s owner and director Owen Langbart firmly believes that all kids?especially today?s generation of cell-phone addicts and video gamers?need the quintessential camp experience. With more than 100 wooded acres at the foothills of the Berkshires and a staff of friendly counselors that specializes in orienting first-time campers, his one-, two-, four-, and six-week camps aim to do just that. Winding paths and hiking trails lead young guests aged 7?16 to the many amenities that cover the grounds, including a larger-than-Olympic-size swimming pool, an indoor climbing wall, a water trampoline, a batting cage, and a pottery studio. These same paths lead to the cozy cabins that house up to 12 campers and two counselors with all of the comforts of home: electricity, bathrooms, showers with hot and cold running water, and an old man in a recliner who won?t let go of the remote even if he falls asleep.
Regardless of age, Greenwood Trails lets campers choose the activities in which they?d like to take part in daily, such as pottery, photography, or outdoor cooking. Participants also engage in cabin activities that encourage bonding among bunkmates, such as swimming together in the lake or joining in an untieable human knot.
