Glossy bowling lanes explode with the sounds of crashing pins at Aaron's Family Fun Center, where an arcade, outdoor mini-golf course, and six sand volleyball courts keep all manner of attentions entertained. The 32-lane array gives ample space for individual and league play, though larger parties can opt to reserve The Den, a private, elegant bowling alley featuring six lanes, library-paneled walls, and no restrictions on false old-timey mustaches. The mini-golf course challenges putters to 18 holes with a range of colorful obstacles for year-round enjoyment, though unfavorable weather may limit off-season play to all but the most wind-resistant of miniature athletes.

Paradise Park started its life as a simple miniature-golf course in 1992. Since then, the park has grown with Lee's Summit, mirroring the suburb's population growth with additions that have turned it into a sprawling temple to family fun. Outdoors, guests can still show off their putts and best gopher impressions on the miniature-golf course, or head over to the go-kart track to face off against fellow drivers on a 1,000-foot road-inspired course. Inside the park's huge indoor area, kids play and learn at the Children's Edutainment Center or blast each other with air-propelled balls at the Foam Factory. A game room harks back to the arcades of old with token-fed classics such as Ms. Pac-Man, as well as offering new amusements including a SpongeBob SquarePants game.

You could travel to just about any corner of the globe and find a golf course designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr.?including more than 30 different states. Impressive as his portfolio is, even Jones, Jr. admits Deer Creek Golf Club in Overland Park is some of his best work. A four-star recipient from Golf Digest, Deer Creek balances beauty with adversity. Winding creeks follow golfers from one hole to the next as they work their way through the densely wooded layout, which features multiple holes that eclipse the 500-yard mark. Before or after rounds, players can improve their chances for par by stopping at the club's pro shop and stocking up on new equipment or having their golf balls outfitted with glasses.

Direct dimpled orbs past the treacherous water hazards, sand traps, and fire-breathing Bill Gates statues that punctuate the par-72 men's, par-73 women's and juniors' course (up to a $31 value) while navigating the grounds in a shared golf cart (a $14 value). Before or after your outing on the links, Sunflower Hills Golf Course's bucket of range balls (a $4 value) supplies enough practice shots to perfect a mean power drive or a satisfying chip shot.

In 2009, Golf Digest readers chose Falcon Ridge as the 17th-best public course in the United States. Recognized time and again on a national level, Falcon Ridge's course is a trip through the rippling hills of western Lenexa. Pristine manicured Zoysia tees are at the start every hole, which lead to terrain that challenges every aspect of a player's game. It's not all about bogies and birdies, though?the course has frequent elevation changes where you can get gorgeous views that are worth the trip alone. Away from the fairways, golfers can even take some swings at Falcon Ridge's 25-station driving range or two-tiered putting area.
