The indoor summits at Crimper’s Climbing stretch up to 16 feet in the bouldering arena, 23 feet in the top-rope range, and 30 feet in the lead climbing section. In each specialized area, colorful holds of different shapes and sizes riddle wall faces. Climbers navigate these holds by practicing the fundamentals across the varied angles, heights, and distances that span between them. Beginners will find wall routes tailored to their skill set, just as technically advanced climbers will find more complicated boulder scenarios. Crimper’s Climbing also offers classes, hosts birthday parties and team-building exercises, and extends membership opportunities to enthusiasts and agoraphobic billy goats.
The reach of Skate Center's offerings extends beyond its namesake roller rink to include a play zone featuring bungee climbing, a zip line, and other energy-burning activities. The bungee-climbing room tests even the most experienced mountaineer. Experiment with various kinds of above-water buoyancy in a kangaroo-themed bouncing room or a sea of more than 20,000 balls. Those with a fear of flying can sail worry free along the zip line at an altitude directly above flying pigs. Take a breather before arcade games that require one token for each use. After your feet have taken you as far as they can go, skate around the roller rink for a mellow contemplation of infinity during a schedule of public skating times. Kinder to joints than running and insensitive femur jokes, in-line skating provides a fun low-impact workout. A slice of pizza and medium soft drink refuel energy tanks to help you maximize your day of motion.
The husband-and-wife duo that runs Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing always dreamed of starting an all-outdoor summer program for kids. In 1990, their dream became a reality when they purchased 500 acres of land in southwest Virginia that was perfect for outdoor adventures. Hills, trees, caves, and a glistening lake set the scene for activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and caving, though the staff says that its most popular attraction is the 900-foot zipline. Today, the grounds welcome participants young and old; many adult groups travel to the grounds for team-building and leadership events. All of Wilderness Adventure’s programs arm participants with these skills, boosting camper confidence and giving them enough self-esteem to try to singlehandedly bringing back the fanny pack.

Each tour is fully narrated, and Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese translators are available for the foreign dignitary you may have met over a game of hopscotch.
Dedicated to granting kids a safe, fun play space where even tumbles result in laughter, Monkey Joe's goes out of its way to foster a friendly environment for all guests. Throughout the day, the eagle-eyed staff—in adherence with a rigorous Safety Access Child Control System—oversees kids at play on the inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and climbing walls that dapple the indoor play area, with video monitoring on hand for further peace of mind. The main play area fields the bounces of youthful guests aged 12 and younger, and the Mini Monkey Zone's games and puzzles afford toddlers a chance to escape the world of older kids and their pre-algebra jokes for a recreational haven of their own. In addition to walk-in play, a bustling party zone facilitates gravity-defying birthday celebrations tended to by cheery staff. As their progeny run and jump, parents can retreat to the tranquil confines of the adult lounge with a computer station, comfortable chairs, and flat-screen TVs. Even after the ebullient crowds of tots have cleared the premises, the staff remains committed to children's well-being as they scour every inch of the inflatable equipment with sanitizing cleaners that evict common germs trying to nap in the cloud-like nooks and crannies.
