Since its 1965 founding in Venice Beach, California, Gold's Gym has dotted the globe with more than 600 locations where professional athletes and exercise newbies gather under the umbrella of personal strength. Nearly 3.5 million Gold's members chart and aim for their fitness peaks, perspiring beneath the gaze of certified personal trainers or pedaling beside peers at cycling sessions. In a diverse lineup of group classes, patrons strengthen cores with Pilates, finger-paint pictures of ninjas in martial arts, and amp up heart rates along to the pulsating soundtracks of Les Mills routines. Many Gold's Gym locations stockpile futuristic amenities, such as cardio machines with individual iPod docks and televisions that help keep patrons motivated.
The Tipsy Canvas first sprang into being in 2009. The founders wanted to create a new way for people to engage with art, even if they lacked experience. They found that step-by-step instruction from an artist and a glass of wine to loosen up gave people that opportunity. They now have three Texas studios where other artists follow their teaching example and help students recreate original works of art.
At Bisque-it Shop, daubers of all ages stipple, stripe, and embellish singular designs on their choice of more than 300 paint-ready vessels. Armed with studio-supplied brushes, stencils, and under-glazed paints, guests seek out ceramic soul mates in the form of trinket boxes ($10–$18), dinnerware ($15–$45), or animal figurines ($10–$14) before adorning new best friends with a panchromatic coating. After completing their paint-tinged opus, guests turn works over to Bisque-it Shop’s clay caretakers, who kiln-fire artifacts to preserve designs against the abuses of microwaves, food items, and that bullying Grecian urn from down the block. The shop readies pieces for pick-up in seven days. Bisque-it Shop’s expansive atelier accommodates up to 70 painters at once, and staffers accept reservations for groups celebrating birthdays, bachelorette parties, or the 20th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

What is one of your signature services? How is it performed?
We offer quality art classes for children and adults and provide an array of original artwork created by local artists.
Sometimes it's all about the little things in life. What supplemental courtesies do you include with your main services to leave clients with a smile on their face?
Students attending art classes are allowed to come in 15 minutes early. We also encourage them to make up absent days. If the gallery doesn't have the artwork you're looking for, we can connect you with the right artist.
What's one tip for first-time customers that will make them feel like regulars?
Parents of young children are welcomed to stay for a while as their children ease into the comfort of the art lesson. Classes are small, which ensures that all students will receive plenty of individual attention.
