  • Sasquatch CrossFit
The workouts at Sasquatch CrossFit aren't like the ones you'll get at most other gyms. Whereas classic training tends to focus on the individual, rote workouts, and exercise equipment, CrossFit takes a different path to fitness. In many ways, it's more direct; rather than rely on a circuit of machine-centered reps, CrossFit uses push-ups, pull-ups, and weight training to create an old-fashioned workout. Sessions at Sasquatch have also been known to incorporate tasks such as using brute force to push a monster truck tire, scale a rope with haste, or hurl a medicine ball to the surface of the moon. In this way, workouts are never the same and every day at Sasquatch is different. The center's trainers also emphasize the team-oriented aspects of each workout. While all individuals work hard to improve their own bodies, the group keeps each other motivated and, in the process, forms a bond that becomes like that of a family—which will then be overcome and transformed into a healthy, positive bond.

  • Debbie Dodd at Sculptor Fitness Redmond
It's easy to see why the gym at Sculptor Fitness is called "The Barn". The two-story building boasts rustic wood accents inside a red exterior, surrounded by trees and greenery. Here, clients from all walks of life gather to lift free weights, swing kettlebells, and climb the rope that hangs down across both floors. Just like those inside of a real barn, these chores vary from person to person. That's because the staff of personal trainers believes in customized programming. They lead private and partner workouts in addition to group classes, from power sculpt to a mix of teen fit, spinning, and strength training. These courses all rely on a close relationship between instructor and student, which focuses on specific, attainable fitness goals and the motivation to continue on reaching and beating personal fitness goals.

  • One Golf
Executive Golf?s resident golf instructors proffer club-wrangling wisdom to aspiring aces from the climate-controlled Redwood Golf Center. Runaway swings gain traction in private lessons with professional golf instructors, who tailor curriculum to individual abilities and needs, helping solidify sound backswings, ball flight, and the ability to drive a ball 300 yards with a swimming noodle. Short-game lessons help shore up proficiency from within 100 yards of the green by covering pitching and putting techniques. Conducted at a nearby golf course, nine-hole playing lessons let pupils consult their golf sensei about swing mechanics as well as course-management quandaries, such as when to lay-up, when to go for the green, and how to earn the trust of territorial flagsticks. The academy augments its swing-honing advice with a bevy of club-fitting and repair services, helping players select the right equipment.
