Canadian pop-rock troupers the Barenaked Ladies play ringmasters to a freewheeling circus of brainy pop, brawny blues, and carefree jams as the Last Summer on Earth tour lights up arenas and amphitheaters across the continent. On stage, they maintain their 20-year reputation as an engaging live act with tight but playful musicianship and gregarious repartee with their adoring audiences. Their hook-laced lyrical patter, bookworm wit, and mastery of the tone sequences that activate the brain's CD-buying centers steered '90s hits such as “One Week” and “If I Had a Million Dollars” into perpetual ubiquity.

The rivalry between Ducks fans and Beavers fans is built right into the Ducks vs. Beavers Rivalry Clash's race course. Supporters of the two teams, decked out in their most spirited gear, kick off the chip-timed race at separate starting lines, and begin the race by running straight towards each like old armies. Instead of a head-on collision, the two groups funnel into a single mass, sharing a race course as they vie for the fastest times on the 5K or 10K route. The speediest school wins a donation to their university's laptop scholarship program, plus the right to refer to their rival school as "our satellite campus."

Regardless of the results, everyone buries the hatchet at a tailgate-style afterparty, where entertainment ranges from a tug-of-war to the most beloved of collegiate pastimes: a flip-cup tournament. The flip-cup games, as well as corn-hole and other competitive events, give racers a chance to earn more glory for their schools. There are also awards for the fastest individuals, the team of five with the lowest combined time, and the school with the lowest overall score (as determined by the sum of the top 100 runners' places).

Color Me Rad stages 5K races that transform runners into mobile rainbows by launching cheerful barrages of colored cornstarch. Each color station along the racetrack flings a new, nontoxic pigment at passersby, who wear white shirts to enhance the chromatic onslaught's costuming effects. Brilliant neon-blue, green, purple, and yellow clouds dapple participants along the way, and the race concludes with a prismatic finish-line finale as sprinters chuck colors at each other in celebration. The race's noncompetitive credo shifts the emphasis from speed to silliness, and a portion of its proceeds go to local charities.

Upon registration, each runner collects a Color Me Rad T-shirt, sunglasses, sponsor gifts, and a race bib. Though they don't receive a gift packet, runners younger than 8 years old can sprint for free, provided they have a waiver signed by a guardian and won't give in to demands for gold from confused leprechauns.

A group of rowers founded Sammamish Rowing Association (SRA) in 1996, meeting at Idylwood Beach Park in Redmond before each of their journeys across the water. Eager to grow SRA, it wasn’t long before the crew took notice of an abandoned boathouse in Marymoor Park, languishing on the banks of Lake Sammamish. Its ceiling was rotting away, and its oar racks were emptier than a child's pockets after a candy-shop spending spree—but that didn’t deter the passionate rowers or their vision. They put in a bid for the building, formed a strong subsequent partnership with King County Parks and Recreation, and set to work renovating the vintage structure to make it fit for public use.

Ever since, SRA has introduced adults and youth to the benefits of rowing. The sport's fluid, low-impact motions tone muscles all over the body, and the collaborative nature of the sport nurtures sportsmanship and camaraderie. The association's future is bright: members are building a new boathouse scheduled to open in the summer of 2013.

Teaching life skills as much as stage skills, Drama Kids' curriculum helps kids ages 3–18 learn how to express themselves, while fostering creative thinking and boosting self-esteem. Prepare your proto-adult for later-life triumphs such as winning an Oscar or fast-talking their way out of a questionable real-estate deal with Drama Kids' programs. Kids in the Lower Primary drama program, for ages 5–8, will further refine their vocal delivery and hone their social skills, interacting with classmates through the art of theater. In the Upper Primary program, for ages 9–11, students will explore more complex components of acting, such as speech, movement, and improvisation. Preschool Workshops, for tots ages 3–4, encourage imaginative thinking through in-school field trips, and the KinderKids program, for ages 4–5, develops a lasting enthusiasm for expressive activity. Advanced thespians, ages 12–18, can perfect their soliloquies in DKI Acting Academy. All these programs run for 12 weeks with one class per week, and the $30 option under this Groupon is good for a four-week trial during one of these sessions. Check the schedule for more information.

The name is a little misleading. Yes, Hell Run entrants will be running, but they'll also be ducking through dark tunnels, sloshing through muddy swamps, tackling tire mountains, and clambering up walls. Among other feats. The obstacle-strewn run may be hellaciously taxing, but conquering it makes the after-party all the sweeter. Along with bragging rights, finishers get a medal, a beer, live music performances, and the opportunity to watch sweat make cool patterns on their mud-covered limbs.
