Michelle Alpern, an avid swimmer and Red Cross-certified lifeguard since high school, is the founder of the Kids and Infant Safety Swim (KISS) Swim Program. Tailoring lessons to each student?s needs, Michelle and staff lead sessions for infants, toddlers, kids, and adults, focusing on the swim-float-swim method in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment. She specializes in childhood education, and her training includes more than 175 hours of pool instruction, child psychology and physiology, and CPR and AED certifications.
Trying a bunch of jams isn't typically the best prescription for getting fit, but at Fit-Natics by Angie, Angie's jams are the dance type, burning calories instead of adding them. They include songs from Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Daddy Yankee in addition to Latin tunes that encourage plenty of hip-shaking on the studio floor. Angie leads Zumba classes to these beats that help her clients to lose weight and tone muscle. And, though the routines incorporate movements from dance styles such as salsa and mambo, they are perfectly doable for students who have never danced before.
Zumba Fitness's instructor, Angie Montgomery, sticks to the roots of her favorite exercise form, underpinning every dance routine with music from a Latin tradition. She draws her moves, though, from other upbeat dance traditions, sometimes incorporating the graceful arm motions of the luau or the frantic leg kicking of the fire-ant attack.
