At Art One Academy, a team of practicing painters, sculptors, and illustrators share their expertise with a new generation of artists. The creators of Paint Nite started their on-location art parties as a creative alternative to a night out with friends. Inspiring people to drink creatively at bars in more than 80 worldwide cities, their events have been touted by New York Magazine as the Best Friend Date and profiled by The Daily Beast. During each two-hour session, participants create a 16x20? reproduction of the night's chosen artwork while sipping a beer, mixed drink, or glass of wine purchased from the bar. Paint Nite provides all other materials, including paint, brushes, canvases, easels, and aprons. Local artists guide participants through each step of the painting process from mixing colors to brush stroke and encouraging creative expression in a supportive, positive atmosphere.
As eclectic as an artists' colorful palette, the curriculum at Bayview Arts School strives to build a well-rounded creative individual from the ground up. Beginning at the tender age of two, young ones can learn to express themselves through fun hands-on projects while learning fundamentals of line, color, and shapes of Doritos. From there, blossoming artistes are introduced to art history concepts while studying and emulating styles and techniques of famous painters, and can continue straight through high school, where they can hone their portfolios for college applications. Keeping small class sizes?always between four and eight students, per?trained teachers work closely with students and integrate materials based on The Ontario Curriculum for Arts.
As formally trained artists themselves, the certified instructors at Richmond Hill Art School by Woodland Artists impart both skill and passion to their students. Working with students of all ages in a variety of mediums and focuses, instructors lead classes that range from cartooning to painting. Casual artists can drop in on a friday night for social painting, which includes all materials, instruction, and a beverage to sip on while painting.
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having to scribble them on your hand. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results.
