Rush Performance: Personal Training Studio's certified trainers take positive attitudes and community support so seriously that if you complain during your trial of the Team Rush training program and bring any negativity, you won't be able to join Team Rush. And that would mean not torching hundreds of calories and toning up during strength, cardio, and sports conditioning sessions and high-intensity interval circuits.
Even the personal training requires supporting your fellow exercisers as it usually involves small groups of two to four working out together and forming a human pyramid to place any junk food out of reach. The trainers often use the FitRanX fitness-testing system to determine how fit a person is before they start Rush's programs and to monitor their progress throughout.
Pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting, running: these are just a few of the motions involved in an average CrossFit workout. CrossFit 88's professional fitness coaches rely on two criteria—variety and intensity—when developing their daily workouts. These workouts are held in an open gym filled with functional equipment such as free weights, jumping boxes, and weighted sleds.
Though CrossFit is known for its high level of intensity, students need not be afraid of falling behind. The instructors make sure to scale each workout to individual abilities, which keeps the system inclusive and each student's goals in reach. Beginners can get acquainted with CrossFit in Fundamentals classes, in which the instructors teach the correct way to lift a barbell and dispel the common myth that all ropes are snakes in waiting.
Lifting weights is a tough, and Air Fitness' industrial atmosphere reflects this—the gym's name scrawls across the grey graffiti wall; kettlebells perch atop blocks labeled "Rogue" in bold, black letters. The cardiovascular exercises are equally rough and tumble, as treadmills are swapped out for high-intensity boot camp, and moose-milking classes.
The inspiring trainers at MetaBody lead troops of women workouteers in results-getting one-hour workouts several times weekly. The fun classes utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment ideal for both beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. MetaBody's motivational instructors will use your instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. They’ll keep your muscles guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so you’ll never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth-brushing. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early morning boot camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late evening class. In addition to the fitness classes, you will receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound-loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching.
Chicago Elite Fitness is a haven where athletes can come and work out together in a fun community with intense drive. At the facility's CrossFit Bucktown section, certified CrossFit coaches design a different Workout of the Day (WOD) each day, which blends exercises from various fitness disciplines such as gymnastics, weightlifting, plyometrics, cardio, and strength training. Though the WOD is never the same, athletes may be tasked with lifting weights, running, rowing, or working out with less conventional equipment such as ropes, tires, and kettlebells. The facility also houses the Chicago Barbell Club and a team of USAW-certified coaches.
Located inside the historic former Washington Park YMCA, Mettle Fitness welcomes guests who are serious about getting in shape. The facility's owner, former NFL player Jason Burns, oversees the fitness programs, which include boot camps, CrossFit classes, and sports training sessions. One glance around the facility and you'll notice the lack of fitness machines, mirrors, and other items you'd expect to find in a gym. In their place are functional forms of resistance such as free weights, kettlebells, and exercisers' own body weight, which can be increased by eating cheeseburgers.
